Just a short hop off the highway, but it feels like you are tucked into a cabin in the mountain forest. It is a favorite place to eat if we are ever in the area. It’s peaceful looking at the beautiful mountains through the big sunny windows. Such a cozy & quaint restaurant, and the food was delicious. Waitstaff were super friendly, too. Our waitress has worked there 15 years. We ordered Sour Cream Enchilada Plate (green) and the Chili Relleno Plate. The tortilla chips & salsa tasted homemade, too! Everything was, “Yum!!!”

We’ve eaten here several times and the quality of food, service, and the restaurant’s condition vary. They are often short staffed. We’ve had great times and not so great times there. We like that it’s out in the middle of nowhere. I give them props for keeping a business running under those conditions.

Tropics and Oceans
Good basic New Mexico enchiladas. Been there twice so had both red and green, each had their pluses. Nice view looking out over the apple orchard. They do breakfast which I plan on trying. So skip Ruidoso or Alamogordo and come on up to the Old Road.

Inflatable Playgrounds
Came in here with a party of 30 at noon with the restaurant already busy. In less than a hour the staff took our order, got all our drinks and food to us. The food was AMAZING. Will definitely be back next time I’m in the area.

We came in a Saturday at 5:30, got seated about 2 minutes later, then order like 10 minutes later, and they took more than 10 minutes to just bring the drinks. The food was served 1 hour later! We only saw 2 servers and one of them was also the cashier. We were a table of 4 Food wasn’t even that good. Very bad experience
