Beautiful space. Fish quality is OK. Presentation is good. But the flavors have room for improvement.

What a great experience we had eating at Oko in Rye tonight! The food was outstanding and was not just your basic bland Japanese restaurant. No basic thin slice of grilled chicken with teriyaki sauce here – was a nice serving of perfectly flavored and seared dark meat. But what really set this place apart was the service! Spectacular is an understatement. They anticipated everything and couldn’t be more accommodating and friendly. Haven’t felt this welcome in a restaurant in a long time! Thank you!! See you again real soon!

Wow!! I forget everything that we ordered, and ate; but holy cow was it all good!! So, I can’t really describe what’s in the photos too well other than saying that it was pure goodness and savory. The beef in the bento box (the 1st pic) was tender, cooked just right, and was full of flavor.

My wife and I decided to give Oko another shot after having dined here in January for my birthday despite being disappointed initially. Our initial experience was incredibly overbearing service, over-salted food and absurdly small portions. Sadly and disappointingly, nothing has changed. This time we chose to order to go. When I arrived home and took out the order, we were so shocked by the portions that my wife assumed I left something in the bag. Needless to say, the portions are criminally small and overpriced. We both are again still hungry despite spending $97. Won’t be going back a 3rd time.

The sushi was delicious. Small portions, well presented and very flavorful. If you are hungry, though, it can be quite an expensive dinner. The cocktails are interesting. Made with fresh ingredients, they tend to on the bland side. The Ginger and Lychee were barely detectable our drinks. Servers were very attentive and courteous. Overall a very good b-day dinner.

There is no comparing Oko to any place in this area. Fantastic food and service!

Great food and service! Rachael (server) had great recommendations and we got to talk to Chef Fecedio who made us some amazing dishes!

This place is overpriced. A 10 piece nigiri set will set you back like $50, and the serving sizes tend to be small. A lot of authentic, high-quality sushi restaurants sell sushi sets for far less–for context, Hajime in Harrison lists their 9 piece and 1 roll set for $28. Also, the fish in the nigiri is cooked–I understand that the restaurant is going for a non-traditional type of sushi; however, I’m not a fan. You can’t really taste the freshness of the fish that one would expect from high-quality sushi sold at a high price. Needless to say, my last visit to Oko in Rye left me yearning for a lot more.
