We had a beautiful evening in this tastefully done, classy Indian restaurant….loved the decor…The food was great and the service was super fast. We liked their Chicken curry and the Biryani…it did remind me of Calcutta….their deserts were amazing too…we got a chance to meet the owner, Gopal..he is such a warm person. Overall, it was worth the 1.5hrs drive to dine at Oh’ Calcutta, Winston Salem. We will be back again soon.

First time trying Indian cuisine and it certainly won’t be the last. The owner was outside and opened the door and offered us a warm greeting. The food was delicious and it had the perfect level of spice. The sweet lassi was very good, the chocolate cake was delicious. Our server was great. We had a bug fall into one of our drinks and they brought out a new one but it was not comped on our bill. One of the dishes was served on cast iron and was extremely hot but we weren’t warned until it was already placed down on the table and by that point someone already ended up with a burnt finger. All in all we would definitely go back for the food.

This was my second time eating here, and the food and service were magical both times. The samosas and truffle naan were delicious. The real star was the phenomenal Tandoori salmon, with the most lovely crust on the skin but beautiful medium rare center, the perfect spice level (medium), and a delicious sauce and chutney! Josh E was our delightful server, very attentive and knowledgeable! Looking for an excuse to go back already!

We ordered the samosas, butter naan, chicken tikka masala and tandoori wings as takeout. All in all I would have to say none of the food tasted original and did not have a lot of spices. The chicken tikka masala was a solid 3. We didn’t eat the wings as we didn’t like the taste and they were very puffed up or inflated. The samosa was vegetarian with potatoes and peas but tasted like it had been around a while. The naan was the most disappointing, it was very clearly not made there. It was like a stale cracker. Very hard, no bubbles, no fluffiness, not soft and yeasty at all. We took a bite and left it. The restaurant was very busy and the hostess was very pleasant and accommodating.

I love Indian food. This is my first time trying an upscale Indian cuisine. I thought the Lamb was excellent. The curry broth was fabulous. My only complaint is that the naan wasnt what I’m used. I’m the first to say that I’m a harsh critic with that being said I would have given a 4 star but the service Josh Edwards gave bumped it back up to a 5 star for me. They bring a warmth and passion to the service industry that othwise seems to be lost. I will be back and I am excited to try one of the traditional Indian dishes. I think this is a must try for anyone who loves Indian or a great intro for someone who never has had it before.

I had an excellent dining experience here last week! Oh Calcutta is a wonderful addition to the Winston-Salem food scene. The ambience is hip and I felt like I was at a restaurant in NYC — in the best way. The food was superb. We ordered the shrimp and chicken dumplings, the pork belly, and the chicken tikka masala. There is something on the menu for everyone. Generous portions and everything came out quick and hot. The service was wonderful too. I cannot wait to go back!

Visiting from Houston and was told by 15 locals to try this place out for dinner, and it was was everything they said and more! The service was amazing, says something even during a dinner rush the waiter was able to still come to patio area to make sure we had our waters full. The food, perfect balanced, a dish for some spicy for my spicy loving mom and low spicy for a savory loving me. And the ambiance, peak! Great place if your a duo dining, has family tables, and even solo dining seats by the window. Also they don’t have a sign for it yet but the patio is pet friendly!

I was very excited to find a Bengali restaurant in North Carolina, but it was more of a fusion Indian restaurant. The food still tasted amazing though. Everything we ordered was cooked to perfection. Gopal was a very gracious host and all the service staff took great care of us. I really liked the Calcutta biryani, chef’s special goat curry, and the creme brulee. Also, I can eat a tub of the mango chutney! The Bengali in me was very happy to find potato in everything I highly recommend trying it out for a slightly different Indian restaurant experience and I’ll be back for sure to taste all the other options from the menu.

The food was awesome!!! The owner was kind and friendly…our server Candice was perfection!! we ordered a bunch of small plates and drinks so that we could try multiple things and loved all of it.. my husband loves spicy but I’m not such a fan of the spicy so the owner brought out freshly made “hot” sauce for him to try … he loved it! The staff was friendly, the restaurant was beautiful.the music made it feel like Charlotte or NY.. we will come back! . it truly was a great date night.

We’ve been to Oh Calcutta several times since they opened, and they stand alone in Winston-Salem delivering a more refined Indian cuisine experience. Put those disappointing experiences of mediocre food with too much oil from other restaurants behind you!
