We had 6 people. Restaurant is a lovely restored 1800’s house. Seating area was very nice. Service was great. Smaller list of main dishes. 2 ordered the fried chicken, perfect. 2 ordered the chicken pie – very tasty with a tender fluffy crust. Great selection of regional beers. Liked the butter toasted bread with apple butter for desert.

A beautiful building and location, Oak Tree managed a birthday group of more than 20 quite well. One entre was missed / forgotten but was provided later as take out at no charge. Portions were large enough that no one left hungry. Will definitely go back.

Well this place has ok food i won’t say its the best because its far from it in my opinion I was there this past weekend with my race team and they have the slowest service I have ever in my life dealt with if there was another restaurant around I probably would have gone to that one and got up and left from this one we had been waiting for an hour and 19 minutes (yes I timed it) for our food ..waited too long to wait at any restaurant only got there at 7:49 and it was after 9 when we got our food they seemed to be under staff you would think they would be prepared for the crown knowing that’s it’s a race events or special events going on…. Here’s a picture of my food was supposed to marinated mushroom with asparagus risotto there was not one single asparagus in sight and this was a $17 dish… I must say I have definitely had better service I do think that they need to do better especially for their prices because it’s not worth it in my opinion… on a different note it is cozy and welcoming..

The place itself is actually amazing and very beautiful. They had a buffet instead of a regular menu I am assuming it was due to the races being held at VIR. The food was okay, they had a Cajun theme buffet with only 6 items to choose from and a premade salad. The shrimp boil didn’t have a lot of flavor and the sausage and rice was cold and also lacking flavor. There were 3 different types of cupcakes and mine was a little dry. The food was okay but for the price it was not quite what I expected. Be prepared it is a little pricey. Though it was a buffet and the server only brings you drinks they do add 20% gratuity to your bill for a party over 6. Our server made around 80.00 in tips for our table alone and she brought 10 drinks to the table and took away one set of plates since we didnt go back for seconds. I have no issues with places doing gratuity however i am not quite sure 80.00 for 10 people who are getting their own food from the buffet was worth going back to eat there. I have definitely had better food at cheaper prices. The waitstaff was friendly and of course like I said a very pretty setting. I think I would like to try the actual menu to make sure it wasn’t just a fluke experience.

This place is in a really nice, old plantation style house on top of a hill. I’ve never eaten in the dining room area, but have dined in the bar more than a few times. Whenever we go to VIR, we always have at least one dinner there. The food is great and the service is excellent. Wouldn’t be a race weekend without at least one meal there.

Absolutely an awesome dining experience in a beautiful atmosphere offering The Connie’s Pub for a refreshing cocktail before a 5 star dinner in a classy candlelit dining room serving incredible food. Steaks, Shrimp, Chicken and the list goes on and on. Delicious. Southern hospitality at it’s finest. See you again real soon that’s for sure. Thanks for an amazing evening.

Ate dinner here two nights. The menu is limited but what they offer is superb. Most nights the menu is burgers, barbeque sandwich, chicken sandwich or salads. That doesn’t sound like much but the items are prepared to an extremely high standard. The fried green tomatoes as an appetizer are excellent.

Beautiful location, but I went away from dinner two nights in a row hungry and unsatisfied. The weekday dinner menu is really weak, the service is quite slow, and on the second night my pulled pork somehow tasted like fish. The service folks were nice, but given the prices, I was disappointed.

I’ve been coming to VIR for years and am super disappointed with the Tavern these days. The menu is tiny, the food is bad, they are understaffed, etc. When options are limited (VIR is a 20 minute drive from anything worthwhile), they need to have some decent food option. Prior to the new VIR ownership, you used to be able to come to the tavern after a day on track, get a decent steak cooked to order, some delicious sides, good apps, and it wasn’t crazy priced either. I gave the tavern a shot a week ago and the burger I ordered was one of the worst I’ve had…ever. Until VIR gets their $#@& in order, I’d recommend either bringing your food or making the trip to Millies for pizza or Danville for a real dinner.

We used to really enjoy dining at the Tavern after a day at the track. The menu was diverse, and the dishes were high quality and well presented. We’ve been dining there since 2013.
