We had a leisurely lunch here on Sunday. I was torn between the good beer list, and the signature cocktails, so I had Kronnenburg, and a Jungle bird, both very good! My wife had a non alcoholic beer, and clam chowder, we shared the wood grilled calamari which was excellent! The chowder too! Served with shells, so flavorful. Then we got the mussels and fries! I can’t say enough about the food there! And since they have a big smoker out front and a wood fired grill inside, we got a Cuban sandwich to go. We had it for lunch the next day. Now the best part of the story, I got 6 class on the halfshell, I don’t usually use cocktail sauce, I always try it to see how it is, this stuff has that something extra that you can’t quite figure out, and it grows on you. I told the waitress that I wanted to take some home. The sous chef Curtis hooked me up with some, and I got to tell him how much we enjoyed the food, and the sauce!

This was a delightful evening with friends at this restaurant. The service was phenomenal, the menu had a wide array of selections for meat and chicken lovers as well as vegetarian fare. The cocktails, beer and wine list were superb. My wife and I ordered the steak and fries and the scallops entree along with the ricotta cheese with toast appetizer. The view of the harbor makes this a lovely place to dine, particularly in the summer when it’s light out at dinner time.

The food was delicious, and I recommend getting food from the grill. The oak gives the dishes a unique flavor!

Many “high-end” (expensive) restaurants open up in the suburbs of Massachusetts, few actually deserve that title and are worth the money. Oak to Ember is 100% worth it and will not disappoint. From the moment you walk in, you’ll be blown away by the sophisticated atmosphere and attentive service. And when it comes to the food, the clam chowder and scallops are out of this world! The only minor issue I had was that the table bread was a bit tough, but the bread served with my chowder was perfect. Overall, I can’t wait to come back and experience everything else that Oak to Ember has to offer.

Great food. I had the mussels and made this my main course. It was enough. The Cesar Salad was very tasty. My husband had the scallops and enjoyed it very much. Nice place and not noisy like so many places are these days that confuse loud music with atmosphere.

Great food at a dockside location overlooking the fishing boats on Gloucester Harbor. We’ve dined there several times and can highly recommend it. Their menu offers a nice variety of fresh seafood, plus hearty meats, creative salads and pleasing desserts. Plus, their wood-fired smoker standing near the front door produces subtly flavored smoked meats and seafood. Chef-Owner Neal Maver is visible everywhere: cranking the pulleys on the unique wood-fired adjustable grill, expediting orders on the line, and even delivering sizzling platters to awaiting diners. We are looking forward to dinner on the outdoor deck when summer arrives.

My girl friend went here for lunch 2 months ago and got a smoked tuna (raw) melt sandwich which might have been the worst sandwich we have ever had. I wanted to give a second chance so we went yesterday with my family. So disappointing. $18 for watery clam chowder….. wow… just wow. 3/4 people at table got burger which was ok, too heavy, too much sauce. Finally my brother got the bbq special for $45…. An actual bbq place would have charged $25…. Not this place. Deck is cool and atmosphere really nice but the food and prices do not match. The best quote i have seen on this review page is “this place needs a chef not a cook”…. So true
