Made the trip down to check out the Taste of Homer and Food Truck event. What a bad experience with Nonkie Be’s. Ordered the Crawdad Etouffee and Boudin Balls, balls were seriously undercooked but did have good flavor. The etouffee was a joke. Had to wait 20 minutes for an 8 oz serving that we paid $10 for. The main issue wasn’t just the wait either, we opened it and had only 3/4 of the 8 oz bowl filled and it was 99% sticky rice with 5 very small crawdad tails and hardly no etouffee. Would be glad to post pics as we took them and will share elsewhere.

The owner was very friendly, unfortunately the gumbo lacked flavor. The boudin balls were overcooked, but came with a tasty sauce. Really wanted to love it, but for us the food really missed the mark in terms of flavor and texture.

Friendly service and great food. Nonkie’s is sure to please even for those a little less familiar with Cajun food. Their clean trailer is easily recognizable and worth the wait. Would eat here again.

Today we had the Half + Half plate of fried Catfish and Shrimp which was absolutely wonderful. The Catfish had that distinct ‘bayou’ flavor but tasted CLEAN and not fishy at all. What blew my mind however was their Boudin Balls! They are seriously life changing if you appreciate food the way I do. I’ve never had anything like it before. According to the owners they are her late Mom’s secret recipe and are worth the trip alone to try. I will be experimenting in my own kitchen to try and get close to the consistency of those wonderfully crispy and invitingly velvety soft interiors of Nonkie Bé’s Cajun delicacies, but rest assured I will be a repeat customer to satisfy the craving I’m sure to have after trying their food.

OMG, the sausage & chicken gumbo is so good? I’ve got a lot of cajun friends and Nonkie Bes gumbo takes me back to dishes I’ve had in Louisiana. The rue is so darn good. We tried their andouille poboy. The sausage was good but I have to admit, its really not what I think when I think about a poboy….more of an andouille hot dog.

Authentic. Flavors are all there. Bread pudding is the best in the state of Alaska. Heck, even the fries were somehow magical.

hopeful when we found this truck, but comme ci, comme ça. means “so so.” and putain, c’est cher! means “very expensive” for what you get. “putain, c’est cher!” actually means something quite a bit more seasoned, but this is a G rated review & guessin’ you get the idea. will we return? most likely not based on the high prices and average quality. expected some cajun magic but sadly got sleight-of-hand.

Their red beans and rice is legit but their pecan pie bars are DELICIOUS!
