I miss the previous owners. Steep downhill slide since the new people took over. The food quality (the burger, specifically) has diminished significantly and the staff attitudes are poor at best. I would avoid this place if you’re looking for quality and bang for your buck.

“Nobby’s…home of the Famous Cheese Skirt”. As much as I enjoy a cheese skirt, and a good burger, that’s about it for this eatery. My wife and I went for lunch on a Friday and found out to be pleasantly slow, so we ordered, sat down, and waited. From the menu, we both chose the Nobby burger with cheese, an order of onion rings, and an order of deep-fried mushrooms, with 2 cans of Coke. After about 10 minutes our order was brought to our table, and we proceeded to take stock of what arrived. The burgers were very good with the oversized cheese skirt… but it was the other items that were of discussion. #1… we received 6 (six!!) onion rings on our order for $4.99. A paltry amount for the money spent. #2…a single side of Ranch dressing cost EXTRA to receive and dip our rings, which is usually a free accompaniment with onion rings anywhere. #3… the onion rings were apparently fried in the SAME oil as the Jalepeno poppers, giving them a spicy kick. Not a bad thing, but my wife can’t eat peppers of any kind, so it was a little cross-contamination that caused an upset stomach for her. #4…the sodas are pricey per can, so be prepared to either ration your soda, or shell out extra for another drink. The BEST part of the meal, you ask!? The CHEESE SKIRT, of course. Flavorful, cooked to perfection on the burger, and really the only reason to go. If Nobby’s sold cheese skirts alone… I’d order 4 and call it a meal. Next time, just a burger for me.

The food was delicious I got 2 burgers those burgers are huge. I also got onion rings those were good, however there were some that had raw batter inside that were not cooked fully oh well guess it happens but they are tasty. I didn’t like the service the young girl that took my order just didn’t have a personality she didn’t smile or have any kind of friendliness so it made me feel awkward and unwelcome a little bit.

I have read some of the negative reviews. Please don’t listen!!! The food and service has NOT changed. They worked here for 4+ years making us amazing food!! Only changed in ownership. Some of the other places mentioned were off the radar years ago!!

Totally awesome staff and great food–easily Chico’s best burger! (Hey, they’ve even got the yearly awards to prove it.) While known for having awesome food in general, locals frequent Nobby’s to experience their signature fried “cheese skirt” of jack or cheddar deliciousness surrounding each beautifully crafted burger.

Finally fell from all the hoopla praising Nobby’s as the burger place to beat. Specially their skirt technique, which definitely is not recommended for their double burger, unless more cheese is utilized. Big it was for under $10, but with all the makings is good enough to fill just about any hungry person. As to the the overall quality, not quantity, fairly good. Wouldn’t come back any time soon knowing other places are equal or better. 3.5 Stars. Fries, at $3.49 for the small. Praises got me to try them, and frankly nothing above the fierce competition regarding fries. Even their catsup was praised, but really no marked difference. 3 Stars. Must admit that it was a big burger, and service was courteous while ordering. $16+ and perhaps the mushroom choice would have been more suitable. 3.5 Stars.

Counter tipping is literally in our faces these days and Nobbies is no exception. We’ve been put on the spot to tip at a counter-service burger joint with small cramped tables that get cleaned occasionally and before we ever see our food. In-n-Out always has a line because people want a better burger for less money with nicer people and clean tables. ’nuff said

I was told by many people that if we are visiting Chico, CA, we MUST eat at Nobby’s. At let me tell you, they are RIGHT. It wait was minimal, the people were friendly, the back patio was clean and organized, and the food was… Amazing! It was greasy, soft, crunchy, flavorful, enormous, and delicious. I’d recommend Nobby’s to anyone looking for a great burger.

Great place to grab a quick bite. The PIC is their Sliced Sirloin Steak Burger with just grilled onions. It was delish, but so are their other burgers, especially with a cheese skirt! Their fries were well cooked and even crispy. A+ all around!
