Hamburger steak is pretty much the same, regardless of where you get it. I was pleasantly surprised. It was much better than anywhere else I’ve had it. I would definitely recommend it. Everyone was very nice. There is live music on Thursday and Friday nights in a separate area, and you can enjoy the music after the restaurant closes.

This place is a throwback to an earlier era. The ambience is old south but in the best possible way. I had the etouffee and I loved the more soup-like consistency. My friend from the area says we have to experience the entertainment on Thursday and Friday nights. Don’t miss this place during your stay.

Great place to enjoy cold beer and good music as long as you can blend into the crowd. It was our first time here this evening St Patrick’s Day even! We enjoyed speaking with the owner and loved the music as well..all until another customer decided to physically assault me in front of everyone for absolutely no reason. Followed by her very large male date spitting in my face. I spoke directly to the owner and his solution was to usher my partner and I ouy t the front door and lock it behind us. Which made me also feel very unsafe.

This has become our favourite place to go out to eat in Meridian when we do a date night. I’m saying this after we have explored most of the restaurants in Meridian (I’m from Orlando). Everyone there is so friendly, pleasant, and down to earth. They express genuine gratitude and graciousness to all their customers. The restaurant itself is very comfortable and welcoming in its design.

Headed home to PA from NOLA we stopped by this sweet little local spot for lunch on a Wednesday. We enjoyed our time here, the food was lovely. I had the chicken and dumplings with cabbage and corn and husband had the shrimp wrap and fries. We shared a piece of black bottom pie for dessert that I won’t soon forget. The restaurant was full of lovely antique touches including salved tin from the local opera house. Everyone was super kind and welcoming. Hopefully we’ll make it back through Meridian to visit this 86 year old institution again someday. If you’re passing through stop here… no fast food, get a real meal from kind people.
