How did we miss this place? They’ve been open for a few years, and we’ve been looking for a new Indian place after a favorite closed so I am thrilled we took a chance and tried them out. The place is no frills (lower level of an apartment building) but we don’t need fancy and we found parking on the street. The staff suggested the gf veg pokara and it is our new favorite over samosas! The Baingan Barta and Aloo Gobi were excellent veg dishes thought the cream in the Baingan Barta was a bit challenging for lactose intolerance. The sauce in the Shrimp Kurma was outstanding! Again, decor is a bit shabby but the staff were outstanding ! I wish they’d serve glassware instead of giving you a bottle of water. This could be 4* dining if they put a little effort into the decor. They do seem to do a healthy takeout business so hopefully that means they will be around for a while!

We’ve gotten takeout from this establishment the past couple of weekends in a row and we are very impressed with the food! Everything is flavorful and filling. I do wish that the portions for the various curries were a *little* bit bigger, given the price point. Still, everything is so tasty that we can’t help but come back for more!

The place was cute and the food was fast and delicious. I got take out so I know the picture doesn’t do it justice. However, this was by far the best Indian food that I could find in Northwest Philly.

Our go-to place for yummy Indian takeout! Recommend their paneer tikka masala and their peshwari naan especially. Always friendly service. Not a huge indoor dining space so I gave it 4 stars, but I’ve never had trouble finding a seat and the casual atmosphere makes it easy with kids!

This place is fire. Literally everything off this menu is so good its surreal. Small family-owned business with great service, too! Top quality every time and I have been to India 5 times so I know what good, authentic Indian food tastes like.

Best Inidian cuisine in Philly; hands down! The food is simply delicious. I love spicy and whenever I order, I always ask for extra spicy. They never disappoint and make it just how I like it. The food is well worth the price. I highly recommend this place.

Omg! Honestly this review writes itself. The food was amazing. My best friend, nephew, and I came here after a little park outing and I was pleasantly surprised. I got the lamb curry, aloo gobi, an order of samosa, and an order of naan. My best friend got the butter chicken. So first things first everything is made to order so when I say fresh I mean FRESH! Nothing was overly spicy or under seasoned. Just right. Just perfect! Honestly i wasn’t expecting much that blthey over shot my expectations. The only thing i would complain about if I had to complain about anything is that it taste like they maybe bake or air fry the samosa. The service was also amazing

Can’t say enough good things about this place! My husband and I take out from here often. Food is delicious – I always get paneer korma, vegetable samosas and garlic naan, can’t recommend enough! The owner is perhaps the kindest person I have ever met, and is always genuinely happy to see you. We have tried all of the local Indian restaurants and New Era always wins by far!

New Era is a wonderful cozy neighbourhood favorite! The owner Mr Oli and his cousin-chefs (from Nepal, but have worked extensively in Indian-labeled restaurants) are unfailingly efficient, warm, and so friendly. Their food is universally delicious and well-spiced/not too heavy on ghee. Medium spice is a good medium, not too bland, although I could always go a bit spicier myself! We are appreciative of so many great vegetarian options – my favorites are always the malai kofta and saag paneer, and the chana masala is also quite good. Their chaats are flavourful and lovely. The bhaingan barta is a bit too puréed for my texture preference, but tastes delicious. Our meat-eating friends like the butter chicken & lamb roganjosh. The various naans and rotis are very fresh. We always pick up takeaway for home, and their family sizes are great for leftovers or for entertaining a larger party. New Era is honestly so much better than the other Indian restaurants in the Mount Airy/Chestnut Hill and surrounding Philadelphia area – please try here if you have not; you will love these wonderful guys and their amazing food!
