I walked in and immediately loved the energy in the room. There was live music and it was really nice. I started with a delicious cocktail that I neglected to capture in a photo. It was light and smooth in flavor but should not be under estimated. It was a 74 of some sort it was one of the two house signature drinks. My appetizer was backed crab dip. There was no lump crab in it, more like shredded crab. It had a nice flavor and was well balanced. I always get crab cakes when they are an option on the menu, but I decided I would try something different this go round. I should have stuck with the crab cakes. The crab cakes had jumbo lump crabs, there were minimum fillers, and it was packed with flavor. Those crab cakes are definitely in my top 3 for crab cakes in Memphis. I also tried the tomato soup. I was ok, nothing spectacular it was tomatoes soup. The food I ordered was interesting in color. It was a pretty plate. I ordered scallops accompanied by forbidden black rice and a mango salsa. I quickly found out why the rice was forbidden. I tried to give it a fair tasting, but after a good 3 forks full, I was over it. I’m not sure I have the right words to describe the rice. I’ll just say it wasn’t god awful, but it sure is nothing I’d ask for again. The mango salsas was basically a few pieces of mango tossed with pickled onions. In my opinion, it was not a salsa at all, hard pass. The main component of my dish were the scallops. While cooked to perfection, there was something peculiar about the glaze that was on them. I didn’t like it. The sauce that the scallops sat in saved the day. It complimented the scallops well and masked the flavor of whatever they were seared in. There was bread and butters, and it was delicious. Nice soft butter with hot bread , yum.I like everyone else’s food, but not my own. I would comment on the server, but I feel I would be doing him an injustice due to the fact he had too many large tables and was doing the best that he could. I’m going to return to this place and try a few more offerings.

Another great dinner at Napa. I was treated as a belated birthday present, but I felt like I also did my friend a good turn by introducing her to the restaurant. She really enjoyed it and said she never had better crabcakes. She also loved the bread which, of course, I couldn’t have. I wish some restaurant in Memphis would take a page from the French laundry and find somebody that can make them some good gluten-free bread. Good service, good time.

We went here for my siblings birthday and everything started off fine, the waiters were nice and took our orders and the food was good. We then ordered dessert and then sat around for 20-30 minutes waiting for the check. When we finally got the check, we had to wait another 5-10 minutes for someone to run the card. The manager comes and takes the card and brings it back with nothing to sign which we thought was strange but we were more than ready to leave at this point and the same manager opened the door for us to leave only to call us at 10:30pm saying that the card was not run and we needed to pay over the phone. With all of this chaos we will definitely not be returning here.

I made reservations for my husbands birthday, 11/3. It was our first time here. The reservation was for 6:15. The food was very good. I highly recommend the blackened shrimp dumplings with tomato bacon gravy. We also had the salmon and halibut dishes. Both entrees were very flavorful. Our waiter was friendly. He even suggested splitting the salad on two plates since we wanted one but not that much food. It made the perfect size. My concerns were that I asked to be seated in an area away from traffic and not under a blowing vent. We were seated at a main table in the midst of all commotion and directly under a cold, blowing vent. We were uncomfortably cold. (When I mentioned it, the owner was willing to move us.) The other concern was the length of time between seeing our waiter. There was a lot of waiting despite being front and center to the entrance and bar.

Spectacular service, started with the reservation confirmation asking preferences, if we celebrating anything, etc. Waiter was extremely knowledgeable about menu and excited to help us with recommendations. Atmosphere was romantic. Our seating was somewhat private per my request. Everything tasted fabulous. This was our first time there, but definitely not our last. We had salmon, filet mignon, key lime pie and cream brule.

What an experience! Every detail of our time at Napa Café was thought out and captured the essence of Southern Hospitality. From the moment we walked up with the lush greenery outside and twinkle lights, to them pivoting to seat us outside (per our request), to the live relaxing music, to our knowledgeable server, Gary, the mouth watering food, and getting a restaurant tour from Glenda, it was delightful! We left with content hearts and stomachs. We will be thinking about our dinner for a long time… probably even dreaming about it. Thank you; it was truly lovely.

Terrible Service!! I was excited to visit a new restaurant for my friends birthday. Every year for her birthday she picks somewhere we haven’t gone so this year was no different. I arrived they retrieved my name as to where the reserved table was but didn’t bring me back. Instead I was following another attendee of the party We sat almost 45mins before the waiter took out drink order. Received drink. 1hr later appetizers came out. Wrong ones were given to the wrong attendees. 1. 45mins later food came out. It was lukewarm. The waitress seem agitated as if he wasn’t used to serving people of our culture. It was ridiculous. The manager tried making it up by bringing out a slice of cake for the bday girl. As if we would ear it after the bad service complaints. We still had to tip regardless if our waiter did a horrible horrible or not. Upon leaving the manager dismissed to send out gift cards to the birthday girl and each of her guest. Nice gesture but we still haven’t received. This was in May. Now its July I will NEVER recommend this place to ANYONE!! It wasn’t designed for our culture I guess. We’ve been to thousands of top tier establishments. RUN This isn’t IT!!
