Relatively inexpensive plate of food for San Francisco. I got the pork chop rice and though the pork chop itself was a bit smaller than expected, the flavor was spot on. It also comes with rice and some shredded pork and noodles which helped a bit with the small pork chop. The tea also uses real tea leaves instead of a tea bag which is rarer for small place like this. I may come back to try the soup noodles next time

Great down and dirty Vietnamese on the edge of San Francisco’s Chinatown.

Old school beloved greasy spoon best known for Vietnamese beef and chicken phó, Shrimp & Crab Thick Noodle Soup (Banh Canh Tom Cua) and Bún riêu, a Vietnamese Crab, Pork & Tomato Noodle Soup. Tiny interior so wait times can be sporadic especially around happy hour hours.

small place, the banh canh cua is must try but no good with me at all.

It is right at San Francisco Chinatown. No fancy seating and great Service. Just sit and order. Love the crab noodle soup which I had never had it in New York City. This Vietnamese restaurant only take cash, no credit cards accepted.

My Canh is a small Vietnamese restaurant that is located on the edge of Chinatown near North Beach/Russian Hill. It is one of three restaurants on the same block that are open till 2 am (the other two being Sam’s and Panuchos). I tried it out a couple of days ago when wanting something late at night. It is a pretty run-down place that definitely needs a good scrubbing but I guess most places in Chinatown would fall under this category.

Banh canh cua, loaded with msg which is bad and very fishy. This location needs a renovation and upgrade on staff. I had better so might be my last visit.

The Vietnamese pancakes were just as good if not better than the ones I had in Vietnam.

CASH ONLY – Pho exactly how you expect it. I wouldn’t take a first date here to impress her, but it is a perfect late night spot to fill up with since warm pho.

Modest but good pho joint. Cash only.
