The box itself was created by Beans & Cornbread’s owner Patrick Coleman – They pay homage to the stories his Mother and Great Grandmother would tell of taking the train down to Nashville during the Jim Crow era. Not being able to eat in the dining car because of segregation, they would pack a shoe box with a homemade Fried Chicken lunch. This is just one of many examples of incredible resourcefulness & resilience that help tell this important story in American history. Patrick’s boxes are meant share an American history lesson, outlining significant moments and trail blazing Black Americans. It is an honor to collaborate with Patrick and share his story.

Honestly the Cajun shrimp pasta was very good, but there was no shrimp! I clicked the option for no *extra* meat and I believe they understood it as no meat. Huge bummer. For $20+ and no protein, this is ridiculous!

Omg, Mustard Seed Kitchen is always Great! But, O M G this meal was Absolutely Amazing !!!! I had the Chimichurri Skirt Steak & it was perfectly seasoned & tender & the Roasted Potatoes were super tasty & last but definitely not least the Chicken Gumbo Oh my God so Delicious!!! I swear to you this meal made me Exhale. So Amazing. The only hang up I had was the size of the steak. It could have been a bit bigger but, other than that it was absolutely delicious Omg, Mustard Seed Kitchen is always Great! But, O M G this meal was Absolutely Amazing ! Good grief. I was hopeful to find a place near McCormick Place, where the food is horrendous, where I could find something veggie friendly for lunch. The hot pot restaurant nearby was still closed, so I walked a bit further and stumbled upon this place. Yikes. First impressions… the place looks a bit rundown and the prices are eye watering. Add to this the absurd 2.5% surcharge added to the bill in order to prevent prices from increasing, which is a price increase itself. This kind of stupidity is beyond belief. So for $25 for a bottle of water, a veggie burger and fries, you’d expect something amazing, right? Instead… womp womp… see the pic. A sad little burger smaller than my average sized hand and a big bag of fries (which was quite good but over salted). The burger itself had no flavor whatsoever and had the consistency of paste. And it only came with a few bits of onion and a sad iceberg lettuce leaf and pickle slices and tomato. And the city health department needs to inspect this place. The dead bugs on the window sills is not a good look! Oh, and the cashier looked like she just came out of an opioid fog and yawned while taking my order, and had the audacity to glare at me while paying and deciding whether or not to tip (such an evil grift on top of the surcharge). So my takeaway impression is not great. But more importantly, how does this level of mediocrity manage to stay in business? If it wasn’t for its proximity to McCormick Place, I struggle to see why anyone would come here.

Me and my husband ordered a takeout. After we finished eating our meals, we have instantly felt sick and our body started feeling weird and heavy. We ended up throwing up and gagging all night long. Something about their food ingredients wasn’t good. We have gotten food from them before which were fine except being super overpriced. We would love to support our local businesses but can’t risk our health again by purchasing food from them

This restaurant is under new management, it is now a ripoff 4 ur money. I have been there when the old management was there, so I ordered thinking that, I’m getting the same quality product. It was horrible. I will not be returning, using the current owner name, with substandard product. Went to other side, wanted mac& cheese, Latina/Mexican was not wearing gloves, did not purchase. My experience with this restaurant will be avoided, would not recommend, I also had missing items, for the price they are charging, everything should be fresh, quality products, so disappointing. Also wearing gloves is essential, in this day and age. Oh, yeah the pictures they show on the site, are from the original, 1st owners. Not this management now.

The salmon rested on a bed of creamed corn that I could’ve also enjoyed as solo dish. Everything complimented one another, the asparagus was perfectly cooked and had the right amount of crispness. The salmon was scrumptious. The cornbread with the honey butter was an add on but was just as good with the entire meal. Portions were great and I was very pleased after trying Mustard Seed. Looking forward to ordering again soon.

I ordered a cajun fettuccine and ate it like I hadn’t eaten in days. And afterwards, I texted my partner to tell her it was one of the best pastas I’ve had.

So rude & order is never right, food is never consistently good. Found hair in my food and the manager tried to tell me it was a brush hair from the glaze……. Also asking me what color is human hair like I’m 6 months. So rude and most of the food is nasty, don’t eat here!!!!
