I def give this place 5 stars! I found them online while I was in Winston for a conference. The breakfast at the hotel was $15 and I could not afford to do that for 3 mornings. The service at Murphy’s was quick and the food was great!

This place is the best kept secret in downtown Winston for lunch. It’s unpretentious like most of the newer dining options are. The prices are reasonable. They have oil cloth on each table. I ordered the Carolina cheeseburger. It comes with homemade chili, coleslaw, mustard, chopped onions, and American cheese. The brioche bun and coleslaw elevate this burger to the status of best burger in North Carolina. Hands down. If you haven’t checked this place out yet, you are truly missing out. What are you waiting for?

I was staying at the Marriott Winston-Salem and was looking for a place to get breakfast outside the hotel. I found this place and to my surprise it was only a 2 minute walk from the hotel. I tried it and was very pleasantly surprised. The breakfast was phenomenal and the prices are very reasonable. If you are in Winston-salem and looking for a good place to get breakfast, come here. You can’t go wrong.

Its ok, but it was better before! Too much for one person trying to do it all!

Murphy’s is the right kind of hole-in-the-wall hometown diner. Portions were large, especially for the price. Food was tasty and was a quick turnaround. Served cafeteria style. Menu is straightforward and not lots of variety, actually a plus for this setup. Came hungry, left satisfied.

I travel a lot for work and I have passed by this place dozens of times and decided to stop in for lunch today. Super glad I did! I had the grilled chicken sandwich on a brioche bun. Great food with an awesome location in downtown Winston Salem. The food is very reasonably priced. Met the owner John. Great guy! highly recommend Murphy’s lunch.

Like others said, it’s a great little hole in the wall place. I’ve lived in winston for 10 years and passed by this place several times without knowing it. Finally looked up some breakfast nooks for my husband and I to go and the menu is straightforward with good prices. I ordered a sandwich, hash browns, and large oj, and my hubs ordered a sandwich, French toast with two eggs and bacon and a coffee. It was SO much food, and it was just over $20 total. They used real country ham and eggs, and everything was just very good. Wasn’t crazy about the sticky table, but I guess that comes with the no frills territory. It was pretty busy when we got there at 8, but by 8:30, the place had pretty much cleared out. If you want a nice big hearty breakfast, go here!

Excellent fried chicken, Whatmore could you ask for? I also had some Mediterranean style green beans cooked with tomatoes and onions, which were very good. If you’re looking for comfort food, this might be your place. He also had a pot roast today, and about eight freshly made side dishes.
