We went with a group, and ordered the jersey burger, Cesar salad pizza, steak nachos, kids pizza and some beer. Everything was cooked very well. There is a cool vibe in the mule barn. Sit inside at the bar, upstairs, or outside. It’s a great spot! I hope they open up more spots like this in the highlands. Ps – get the jersey burger.

Great spot on Sandy Hook! Highly recommend visiting if you’re local or just here for a day trip. I’m vegan and I enjoyed the Mule Salad and sweet potato fries. Entire staff and bartenders are top tier! Can’t wait to try one of their many “mule” drinks on another visit.

What a great place. Bonus that it is in historic Fort Hancock NJ. We sat outside this evening. Place is decorated nicely inside. Bartenders were great. Wife had a Moscow Mule and I had a Cold Draft while we waited for a table. Allie was our server and she was fantastic. Everyone was hustling including bartenders, waitresses, food runners and even the buss boys.

Excellent restaurant within sandy hook . Server was very informative and explained dishes and menu as it was our first time there. We ordered. Calamari app, then I ordered fish and chips was very good. Hubby ordered a chicken sandwich was good as well. They have a bar and outdoor seating / patio . We weren’t charged an entrance fee at the gate as we stated we were going to the restaurant.

Great spot! Love to see them doing things like this on Sandy Hook and helping to revive the old infrastructures of some of the dilapidated buildings. So much potential out there and I’m so happy that they took advantage of that. Ended up having lunch inside although it was a beautiful day and the outdoor area looked amazing. Honestly, couldn’t go wrong indoors, either. Lots of charm and was amazed that they were able to transform this building as they did. Lots of charm and character here. Everything was really great from start to finish. This is definitely my new go to!

A must visit!!! Everything from the food and drink, to the beautiful renovations is top-notch. The attention to detail that went into all aspects of the Mule Barn Tavern won’t go unnoticed. We enjoyed the pizza and meatballs thoroughly! Make sure to try one of their cleverly named “Mule” cocktails – I was partial to the Red, White, & Mule!
