Countertop service mixed with Japanese cuisine – Yes please! To say good things come in small packages is an understatement about this place! Tucked away in a small strip mall at the corner of Scholls Ferry Rd & Nimbus, this is that close to home, comfort food spot with a Japanese flair. But be prepared to wait if it’s crowded because it’s smaller than most places but that’s ok. What it lacks in space will definitely be made up in service, food and overall experience! So, if you’re ever in the area and love to support small businesses, this is a must go kinda place! Service✅Food✅Atmosphere✅ Mahalo Mugen Noodle Bar!

The place is compact. However the interior layout has been adopted to have a somewhat “yatai” feel. The place can get really busy and crowded.

Ordered the Tori Paitan with Chashu and the suggested chili oil. First of all, the price blows all other bowls of ramen out of the water. The quality and presentation at this price point exceeded expectation. Second, the flavor was solid. Noodles were thick and chewy. Their tamago was HUGE and flavorful. Chashu was fatty, tender, flavorful and seared wonderfully. I visited a bit after lunch, so I can imagine seating and speedy service might take a hit during the dinner hours. All things considered, with how friendly the staff was and how delicious the food was, it’s worth the wait.

Normally I love this restaurant but as of lately, it’s been a hit or miss. I want to explain both my love and distaste for the restaurant in two parts.

Fun place to slurp ramen on a rainy day sitting at the counter. It felt like a ramen bar in Japan! I really liked the broth in the Tori Paitan Ramen! I also like the thicker Ramen noodles and the tender pieces of grilled chicken. My neighbor ordered a Katsu curry that looked amazing! I am excited to return to try this dish as well as the curry ramen.

Such an awesome spot! The owner is super nice and interacts with guests while you’re eating. The seating is bar style so you get to watch the Chefs make your meal. The mural on the wall is very rad too, makes for a good vibe. Ramen was very good, savory broth, perfectly cooked egg, delicious noodles and the right amount of toppings. Their Gyoza is also very good!

Gold. You sit at a bar, enough space for maybe 10-12 people so you might have to wait. The potato croquettes are incredible and I had the hazelnut shoyu which was *chef’s kiss*. My boyfriend had the gyoza and Tori Paitan and he’s a ramen connoisseur and loved it. Can’t wait to go back here. Reminds me of being in asia and finding those little hole-in-the-wall places with the most amazing food. (This is nicer than that but equally impressive!)

We ordered takeout online here on our way back to Portland. The order was ready before the estimated time but I didn’t get a notice it was ready. It’s best to check in with the staff as my order was waiting already when we arrived. I ordered the Curry Ramen, which was more Thai in flavor as others mentioned. It reminded me of Khao Soi, and I really enjoyed it. My wife ordered the Mazemen, which wasn’t as good. The food traveled well in takeout containers. The noodles are on the thicker side and work well in broth (maybe that’s why we didn’t like the Mazemen as much).

This is my absolute favorite ramen place! The food here is fantastic! I got the Tori Paitan Deluxe Bowl with spicy rayu and my cousin got the Corry Bowl. The service we received was so amazing and we will definitely be back again. It is a tiny place but there is some outdoor seating available as well.
