Always a must stop on my way to or from the Brookfield Zoo. I don’t live in the area any more, but when I visit I always try to hit up Mr. Submarine. I don’t know what it is, because at face value the ingredients are just OK. But when you get that shredded lettuce soaked with vinegar and oregano, and the not quite sure what kind of cheese it is, mixed with a true sub roll and solid deli meat. It’s a beautiful thing. And the grumpy guy behind the counter, he’s been there for 30 years. Different faces over the years, but it’s the same guy. Just part of the experience. Never change Mr. Submarine.

The hot pastrami was almost all fat, they put a vinegar/oil dressing on it with mustard & the bread wasn’t toasted. The sandwich was heated up in a microwave and wasn’t what I expected.

Service was very fast and friendly. I had the gyro sub, which was pretty good, but the gyro meat wasn’t the highest quality. My wife enjoyed her tuna sub but she didn’t exactly rave about it, either.

The Last resort for sandwiches, still the same old way like 30 years ago. Everything is Microwave ,non toasted chewy bread. Extra charge for Hot peppers… seriously? Long face service and if price was an incentive before …forget it not anymore . Drive down the block to Jimmy Johns or 1 mile to subway on Pershing and Harlem…..sorry would not come back.

Worse mr. Subs ever rude workers in the front and rude managers! Especially around 4 o clock time frame came here twice both times orders were wrong and something was missing both times i was given attitude while placing the orders and felt very rushed as well! Rude staff and ran horribly.
