This was my first time in Newport. I had never heard of Mo’s prior to stumbling upon it. The chowder served in the bread bowl is beautiful to experience. I can not say that this is the best chowder I’ve had, but I would recommend trying it at least once. I also had the shrimp skewers.

Wow what great food. Very happy with everything. I will say they need to make sure that if someone is going to help the host out that they understand timing. A busser tried to help and told us it would be an hour wait even with tables open in the room next door. The actual host came to the front and sat us right away. We almost left due to the busser telling us it was going to be an hour wait. After that it was amazing food and service

Visited Newport October 2022 for a week. I’ve been here several times throughout my childhood. It was nice to visit once again after many years. This was the first restaurant I chose to eat at when i arrived late at night. I was so hungry and got some chowder. Was so good! I’ve eaten here a few times throughout the week I stayed. I didn’t really like the fried platter I got too much because of the breading. The oyster stew was okay. The chowder and chowder with shrimps was very good!

Went to Mo’s because it was a Newport institution and it got good reviews. It was disappointing to say the least. Our order was taken promptly and within minutes we had our chowder and salad. Both were uninspiring at best. Chowder didn’t have much taste and was heavy on the potatoes. The salad was very bland and we mostly just ate the shrimp. Within 30 seconds of the chowder and salad being delivered, we received our halibut and chips — we weren’t even close to finishing the salad (not that we were planning to). We were told 3 large pieces of fish and what we got was 3 tiny pieces which were about 2 inch squares and a half inch thick and greasy. I get that everything is expensive these days but I don’t think there was even a quarter pound of halibut on the plate and clearly the oil was not hot enough when it was deep-fried. All of these things are correctable but I would recommend spending your hard earned dollars elsewhere.

I was driving down the Oregon coast and saw signs for Mo’s. I decided on the original location in Newport to see if it was up to par. I was pretty impressed with the clam chowder to start and I got the fried seafood mix. I was amazed with the tater tots. The seasoning was exceptional and the best tots I’ve ever had. Had the local Rogue beer and topped off the meal with mixed berry cobbler which was good but not spectacular. Definitely a good experience overall.

We had the best kid dining experience at Mo’s today thanks to Leslie! She was so wonderful with our kids and went out of her way to make it special for them. She provided great service and we were so thankful for her! This is a great place for a family to go and extremely kid friendly!
