The closest I feel to Hawaii without being at Hawaii food wise. We try to come once a month to taste the specials. Expect the food to last you an entire day. We try to enjoy it hot and fresh but there’s no way someone can completely finish this unless you are extremely famished. It seems expensive but it’s more like breakfast, lunch, and dinner combined.

This my was 2nd time coming here. This Hawaiian/ Japanese breakfast / brunch spot is absolutely delicious. Their food is yummy, and the service is great. I love the murals on the walls and the Hawaiian music playing in the background. The Loco moco is a bit pricey but worth every bite, definitely enough for 2 people. If you’re looking for a fancy Hawaiian breakfast, this is the spot

Came at one pm on Saturday. Short wait. Food is very good. I had prime ribs. It is perfectly cook. Be aware this is a mandatory 20% service charge. And tax is on top of service charge. Very odd. And services received is below average and not worth 20%. Check the bill. I was over charged for drinks. When paying with credit card, there option for additional tips. Watch out.

Heard good things about this place so we had to try it. The food is definitely “different”. Thought I’d try the chicken and waffles. Chicken was deep fried and crunchy. On the fence with the waffles. Eggs and rice with Portuguese sausage, spam, and bacon good if you don’t mind the grease. Not sure about the French toast…matcha tea flavored? The loco moco gets rave reviews totally understandable. It is huge…as are all the choices. If and when I go go back, I’ll definitely have to try the Japanese breakfast and/or the Loco Moco. For now I can only give it three stars due to the food being a bit “obscure”. However, the service is great.

We were seated promptly as we arrived mid week for early lunch. Service was friendly and food tasted great. Dishes were unique, for example the waffle from the chicken and waffle had filling. Crack potatoes were crunchy! Would come back again.

People came here not because of Yelp rating. Because the rating isn’t really that good and not accurately reflect on the quality of the foods.

The food is ok here. Creativity is pretty nice but the execution is just so so. The portions are huge though. My buddy who single handedly ate 3 desserts one night on his own couldn’t even finish his meal. So you’re definitely getting your money’s worth in that regard. The mochiko chicken and waffles was not bad but the waffles were not crispy at all. The hapanese breakfast similarly were big portions but like the rice wasn’t really flavored or seasoned at all. The kona coffee just tasted watered down. Skip that. If I’m in the area sure I’d have a bite but I’m not sure I’d go out of my way for this. Also be aware they don’t refund on the check for a reservation with tock. That needs to go through tock and some people have had issues getting that back. Secondly they put 20% service charge on a party of 4. That seems a bit odd for a party that size. It’s also not listed or stated anywhere. But service was ok so didn’t say anything but I’m sure if you have bad service then you might beg to differ. If you’re craving a bit of Hawaiian fusion breakfast then come by otherwise if you’re just looking for more basic American breakfast places there are others around that are cheaper.

Food is picturesque but not worth the price. We ordered the Hapenese Breakfast, Lomo Saltado, Loco Moco, Chicken Waffles, and Hokkaido Toast. Really only thought the breakfast and toast were good. The chicken was really bad and dry.

Fantastic Japanese-Hawaiian brunch spot in San Mateo. Super tasty and well crafted dishes. The portions are huge. Recommend the Hapanese breakfast, okoyominaki and crack potatoes. Also, ask for their daily special. Must make a reservation beforehand! It gets super crowded!

Came here for family breakfast have been wanting to try it but the San Bruno location was perpetually packed glad they made the move to San Mateo. Ample seating with outdoor patio. Service was quick we made a reservation. The menu is intriguing though many of the dishes sound heavy. We ordered the toast (recommended), okokomiyaki (very nice), hapanese breakfast (I like it), holy shiitake (fine not great) and the bimbimbap (overpriced and not fantastic). Portions are big and food quality is generally good. There are a few other dishes on the menu we’d like to try but would careful to not over-order and balance out the heavy stuff. Pricey.
