Our first time eating here and it did not disappoint! We drove from Fripp Island – it’s not far away at all and the majority of the time was spent navigating (slowly) through the private island which was a treat in itself. The screened in patio on the back of the restaurant had views of the harbor and live music – the live music left much to be desired but we still enjoyed ourselves. Service provided by Miranda was fantastic and it seemed as though all of the staff worked well together.

The journey to Morgan River Grill on Dataw Island, South Carolina, is punctuated with scenes of natural beauty as you drive through a private island. The sight of herons in flight and the stately homes glowing in the sunset create an enchanting ambiance, even if this is somewhat dampened by the unexpected stop at a guard house. The requirement to scan your driver’s license could feel intrusive and not particularly welcoming, adding a note of inconvenience to the start of your dining experience.

Great menu & service. We had lunch in the outdoors area near the water. We also enjoyed the thin, crispy French fries with our sandwich & burger. My order was prepared incorrectly and they already had another burger started to replace the one that was barely noticeably cooked too done and now I had lots of great leftovers! Thanks.

Just wanted to extend my sincere gratitude for your special attention to my food allergic daughter!! She is visiting with her friends for the first time without us (her parents) and we were super nervous about her eating out, which we rarely do. Your staff was incredible (thank you chef!!) and were kind and accommodating to her needs. You have no idea what that did for her confidence and our hearts. I wanna say if I could give this place more than 5 stars I would. Its a popular place inside of a gated community. It’s worth the drive you won’t be distracted. The burger was delicious. Look at those fries they are small so they actually get cooked. The hushpuppies are good. Hubby said the baked fish was . One of my friends is gluten free and almost EVERYTHING on the menu is gluten free. EVEN THE FRIED STUFF. He hasn’t been able to eat fried seafood in so long you have NO IDEA how happy he was. He kept asking to go back there. He also said it’d be worth the 3 and half hour trip back there just to eat here. The server was great. She actually read what we ordered back to us to make it was right. We got to sit outside on the screened in porch. And the PRICES. It’s so.. cheap for what you get. Go you won’t be disappointed. Left full and happy. After dinner you can go walk on the pier and get a great sunset photo. It was just a great experience all around. When we come back to Beaufort we will definitely be eating here again..

Char was our server, and she was really nice, and helpful. Our food was good. However, the hostess asked us to leave because they needed our table. It was unprofessional, and it is hard to imagine management that would encourage that kind of thing.

We recently attended a double birthday celebration in Morgan River’s recently inaugurated private event room. The ambiance was very comfortable for our group of about 16. The staff was attentive and responsive and everyone’s food was outstanding. Anyone looking for a private event space on Dataw Island need look no farther than Morgan River Grille.

Omg our waitress Shae was amazing! She made our entire dining experience so smooth and enjoyable. We’ve been in for lunch & wasn’t too impressed, but decided to give the place another try outside of the height of Covid. The dinner was so good! We will definitely be back. Thank you Shae!
