Hands down the best sushi place in NYC. I went on a Tuesday night, was greeted by charming and friendly and hospitable staff as well as the owner, Angel — and then enjoyed the most memorable dining experience I’ve had in the city.

Moko does not disappoint! All the great reviews were true. Every course is more delicious than the last! Sushi Chef Ben, explained every piece perfectly and made the experience all the more enjoyable. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for an amazing omakase experience.

Absolutely decadent food and lovely experience! We sat at the bar and watched the chefs do their thing. The staff was very nice, everything was impeccably clean. The gentlemen who made our food was so kind. He explained what he made for us each time and at the end he even gave us an extra piece! Got to try so many different types of fish I had never had before, all very delicious. I’m not typically the biggest fan of uni but this place has changed that. Wonderful experience I would recommend to anyone who appreciates delicious food!

The food is tasty w/ decent quality but the hospitality….truly blows our mind. We ordered 15 courses but took an hour for us to get the first sets of nigiri and another hour for the half of the rest course. FYI, they give us a three people setting for party for four. We made a reservation a week before we visited there…. Most likely it’s not hard to find a better place, service, and nice table arrangement in NYC with same amount of price.

Made a last minute reservation on a Sunday for date night. Seemed like a relatively slow night so service was pretty hands on for us. We got the 15 course omakase that comes with 12 nigiri. Nigiri itself was on the smaller end of sizes i’m used to. While the value for an omakase spot is good here (especially at $65), i’ve had better for a similar price point. The taste itself was very good, but again, I’ve had better elsewhere. The best pieces from the omakase were probably the otoro and shrimp. We got some Ikura and Scallop Nigiri at the end of the a la carte menu, which were very good. Our server initially forgot that we had only had 6 courses of nigiri and got us our check but was pretty nice about it when she realized. Would recommend if you’re in the area and want some omakase for food value, but there are definitely better spots in the city if you’re looking for the best sub $100 omakase

Never return omakase, sad to say. We did the $100 18 course at the bar. Miso soup was too salty. First appetizer was “ok”, second appetizer was too fishy. Then we had a really long wait to start the nigiri, each which proceeded to be really randomly spaced. Felt like we were waiting forever in between pieces. Overall took ~1hr 45 which was way too long. Back to the fish, it all seemed the same, white fish after white fish (they mumbled the names most of the time so we couldn’t even tell), bland flavor and didn’t taste as fresh as it should. We finally got some tuna and fatty tuna toward the end but it was not up to the omakase quality and experiences I’ve had in NYC for the same price. It’s also BYOB but they still charge a corkage fee, even though it was a small bottle of sake that WE opened and poured. All they did was bring the shot glasses. We even started looking at other spots we could go after while there 🙁 OH and the tip is based on total not subtotal, sneaky. Do not go here. Better off at any other for this price.

Omakase: Did the 18 course $100 option. I really can’t explain what I experienced. I have had plenty of Omakase in the city that even at a surface level had something worth raving about. All the items here looked and tasted the same and was not a good quality at that. Took foreverr in between each course. Overall was about 1.45hrs to finish. Had to pay $10 just to bring your own drink to a BYOB! Honestly going to keep it short for the sake of honesty and letting you know what to watch out for.

Very quick omakase service, no customizations and rather small portions (justifies the lower price). The pieces are standard and not too unique, the sauces on the appetizer was weirdly cheap for the attempt at a more upscale vibe. The dessert was pretty bad, and service was not the best. Server didn’t know what the items were and also served our table the wrong order.

Wow. The customer service experience was amazing. Ralph truly did a great job. Ralph gave us a recommendation for sake and even shared some of the restaurants sake. Once we sat down and started eating, we were truly amazed of the freshness and quality of the fish. Can’t be the price! Will be back!
