We went to Mockingbird for their Wednesday Date Night which I hope they continue doing because it’s such a good deal and makes Wednesdays a special treat your self night. Our food was so delicious for our first time there. We got the baked feta, which was a little too sweet for a starter but I still liked it. We got the fried pork chop and the grilled bison hanger steak. The portions were plentiful and the steak was perfectly cooked medium rare. The garlic mashed potatoes were the best I’ve ever had. Dessert was a bourbon chocolate pecan pie which I thought was a little too sweet but the whipped cream helped out. I’d love to try their baked mac and cheese and shrimp and grits next time!

Came here with friends on a Wednesday evening for dinner… We made reservations earlier in the day, not knowing if they would be busy or not. Parking was tough to find out on the street; fortunately, they have a parking lot in the back. They weren’t too busy when we arrived. Our server was excellent! He was friendly and knowledgeable with the menu and very accommodating. The menu is interesting as it’s mostly an updated version of southern comfort food, but with a slightly more refined twist. The décor is beautiful and matches the menu perfectly!

We went for restaurant week excited to try this relatively new spot in Belmont. The atmosphere is really nice and the restaurant has a good aesthetic. Service overall was good but we were told they had a lot of bookings and not to take too much time; the restaurant never filled up the entire time we were there so this was a puzzling comment. The drinks were fantastic but the food left a ton to be desired. The fried green tomatoes were bland with no seasoning other than cornmeal, and the whipped pimento provided no desired flavor. The entrees were edible although nothing special and the desserts were just fine. Probably the most disappointing part of the meal was the biscuits with a few clearly over cooked yet served anyways. Based on the reviews, we might have caught them on a bad night. We would consider going again at some point but not any time soon.

We were excited about Mockingbird on our trip after seeing other reviews, however our food was quite bad. Generous to say it was under seasoned – there was no seasoning at all. We got the the vegetarian pot pie, which was a small portion of mush and an odd side salad with quinoa, peanuts, blueberries and a sweet dressing. We also got the bison steak – the meat was decent but again there was no salt on any part of the dish and it had an oddly sweet sauce with it. The biscuits and service were good but will definitely never be going back given the price.

Wonderful experience! Went with my family and got several dishes (catfish, steak, bison, salmon) as well as salads and everything was outstanding. Our server Sasha was attentive and friendly and knew the menu and how to make recommendations. Lots of gluten free options. Wine was also great! We had an excellent overall experience! One of my favorite Charlottesville restaurants now. Will definitely come back!

Daniel was patient and professional for our first visit. We enjoyed the shrimp and grits and the crab cake. My cocktail, the Old Fashioned, was one of the best I’ve had and my wife loved her Greyhound. What a diamond dining experience!

The service was excellent. I had the waffles and chicken, the food was very good and very tasty. My wife had the shrimp and grits, the shrimp were cooked perfectly and the sausage had a great Cajun kick. Dessert was a Banana Bread which was delicious. High on the recommendation list when visiting Charlottesville.

This place not only has incredible service, but the food is otherworldly good. They have such a great variety and the flavors in each dish are so well thought out you can taste the dedication to the craft. It is tradition southern cuisine, but experienced through an exceptionally exquisite preparation. They have vegetarian and vegan dishes also and their cocktails are strong and delicious.

We finally got to eat at Mockingbird last night, and it was amazing! The food was so flavorful and fresh. I loved the shrimp and grits gumbo with fried okra, and the fried green tomatoes were insanely good! Definitely get dessert! I am having dreams about the bourbon pecan pie…OMG! The space is a really beautiful mix of swanky and inviting. Like you’re visiting your trendy Aunt’s place for cocktails. You can dress up or down and fit right in, and the service is so friendly and welcoming, as well as attentive. Our water glasses were never empty!

I can’t say enough about this place. Mockingbird is the epitome of southern hospitality, charm, and cuisine. The moment you are in sight of a staff member you’re greeted with a friendly smile and positive attitudes. Everyone is amazing!
