The food is excellent here and so is service. Shrimp tempura was melt in your mouth, goodness! The vegetable tempura was cooked to perfection. I enjoyed eating the sashimi. The food presentation is also good, as shown in the pictures below. It was very busy around 7 pm, almost no tables were available. Reservations are important to avoid any waiting. I definitely recommend this restaurant for excellent seafood and steak.

Excellent service and food as always. I made sure to make reservations as we were coming for dinner. Even though it was just the two of us, I highly recommend making reservations.

My very favorite restaurant on the Big Island. I always order the same thing – Combination G – which is a vegetarian delight! A big super-fresh salad, surrounded by veggie tempura (perfectly light and crispy), tofu (choose either fried or cold), sauteed eggplant, Japanese pickles, and bamboo shoots. With a side of rice AND miso soup. DELICIOUSNESS!! and friendly service, too!

Food and cocktail menu is incredible. Atmosphere is chic and comfortable. Service is … not great. From the hostess to the servers, I felt unwelcome and like an imposition. Staff was not friendly and very cold. Made for a very awkward dining experience. I’d definetly recommend this place for some craft cocktails and amazing food, but with the caveat that you know what you’re looking at on the menu and don’t expect a warm and fuzzy customer service experience.

Everything… literally everything was great! From the service, the food quality and quantity to the prices. I highly recommend the mushrooms as a starter, the seafood hot pot, and the bento box. But honestly, everything that we tried (there were 6 of us) was just so so good. In addition, the quantity of food was quite generous and their prices – while not cheap – are very reasonable. Highly recommended.

I took a good friend for lunch. Haven’t seen her for a while and we had a lot to catch up. I ordered the teriyaki with tempura and she ordered the beef steak with side veg salad. She raved about her meal and even tried some from my plate. Excellent!

Make Miyo’s a must stop if you’re in Hilo!! We got a spot in the bar and were able to watch the chefs meticulously prep each dish before serving directly to you while enjoying draft Sapporo (read: draft Sapporo!).

Izakaya food but all fancied up. This is more small plates fine dining than drinking snacks. The staples are very well executed. This is a place to blow your budget! (You won’t regret it though)

Great lunch spot. You can get away without a reservation for lunch but not dinner. Everything was so good and great service!

There were 4 individuals at the table. We could only get three separate checks. A fee was added if payment was made by credit card. I order the same thing every time I go, the broiled salmon. The portion seemed smaller and in the past it was broiled with a crispy skin. This time it had no skin and looked grilled rather than broiled. That having been said the tempura veggies were very good and served hot. The eggplant is also excellent as is the broiled salmon as earlier described.
