I swear only Iowa has diners like this. You know the kind where you walk in and feel like you just stepped into someone’s home. It’s grandmas old table and chairs, family pictures on the wall, bowls and rolling pins on a bakers shelf in the corner and oldies playing in the kitchen with someone singing along as she cooks. This is clearly family run. We got there within an hour of them closing and our waitress was “ducking out” because she had a hair appointment but it’s ok because “mom would run the food”. No big deal. BTW-they aren’t joking about what time they take their last orders and I understand why. It did take some time for our food to come. It was just mom/grandma aka the best home cook making the food. There is no prep line or sous chef here. You legit get homemade, from scratch straight from the kitchen food. Just like mom makes. Or like moms used to make. So be patient. Good food made with love will take longer than you might want it to but let me tell you. It was worth it.

Wow. Where to start. The waitress was beyond unbelievable. We waited 40 minutes for what they called a lunch. Piece of hard dried out toast and 3 pieces of dried out chicken. The waitress (covered in questionable tattoos) was the rudest waitress I’ve ever had. She shot me evil dagger looks that we’re totally uncalled for. Her behavior was inexcusable. Needless to say, there will be no return visits.

Best breakfast in town! Homemade biscuits and gravy. Friendly service in a classic small town diner atmosphere. They also have a fantastic burger if you’re not in the mood for breakfast.

Just like grandma’s. I was a little nervous when the first thing to greet me into the restaurant was an aggressive hand written sign on the door about the rules of eating there, which deepened to concern when I walked in and it looked like someone was living in the dining room. There’s dusty clutter everywhere including racks of clothing. Still, I had been curious about this place for a while so put in my order when a waitress eventually got to me.

I’m new to Mount Pleasant, and my first time at Miss Ks. Great breakfast spot. My omelet was excellent. Juice took a while to make its way to my table, but staff was friendly.

We went in for lunch at 11:30 on Saturday. Their sign says “Breakfast and Lunch served every day”. We sat down at a table, when the server yelled across the room that she has taken her last order for the day, so she wouldn’t be waiting on us. The whole place was looking (since she was yelling). We walked out. It was not a kind way to handle the situation. We won’t go back.
