We ordered a large array of dishes from jalapeño hamachi crudo, the mirai combination, tuna tuna salmon roll, unagi and avocado maki roll, and hamachi kama amongst others.

Fantastic food that’s really a cut above. Everything that we ordered was incredibly flavorful and delicious.

Great experience. The quality of the fish was incredible. We gave our server the reins and everything was amazing. Would definitely dine here again when in Wicker Park!

The maki spicy tuna roll was okay, it didn’t seem to have mayo but did have green onion inside. The shishito peppers we spicy and more on the raw side lightly battered. I wish they came with a sauce but I used soy sauce which was good. They give you a lot of peppers so that was nice. The maki sweet potato roll was only good because I asked for eel sauce other than that is was tough to eat. The miso soup was great! I don’t think I would come here again as I did not enjoy the maki rolls with seaweed on the outside.

Would recommend the special salmon roll and the shrimp togarashi in particular, but all the sushi options were solid. My only gripes were that it wasn’t a very good value/price ratio (especially with ACYE Sushi Taku nearby), and it took forever to get our food.

One of the best sushi places you can go and definitely the best in Chicago. It’s expensive but well worth the cost. From friendly service to amazing fish this place truly satisfies the soul.

Absolutely terrible service for sushi that’s mediocre at best. Come here if you enjoy being disrespected by pretentious waitstaff.

The food was great, but I have never felt so disrespected — especially while dining and celebrating a very special occasion. The service was awful, they checked on our table every hour so we were starving. We were there for 3 hours… meanwhile we sat maybe 6 inches away from a table that was getting great service, free items etc for their wait times. When we did get the food, it was very good sushi— but there’s so many more wonderful sushi spots in Chicago who are kinder to their patrons. It really ruined our special celebration, spending 3 hours there, spending over ~$300 for like 3 bites of food not even omakase (also a friend tried to send us wine and they told us we didn’t need it bc we already had wine — right?! Lol she gave me horrible vibes in general, mean spirited She might’ve been the owner bc as she mingled with friends, her server was running around like crazy.) And then the bill came and they said they tried to contact my friend bc the “card didn’t go through” but she had no missed calls. She also said when she called to send us the bottle of wine she was rudely told to call back bc “they’re too busy for that.” She called back and they rushed her off the phone. Essentially this whole experience, after we heard such great things, was truly disappointing. I almost felt humiliated for celebrating our betrothal, but I didn’t allow them to win! Still tipped 20% bc I understand they’re busy but to see other tables receiving better service and as a former waitress with years of restaurant experience., I understand a bad night. Hope they can learn from it.

Talk about a hidden gem. We literally fly to Chicago just to have sushi here. There is no comparison to the quality of the fish and rice. We went to Nobu a month ago and it was a joke compared to Mirai. It’s worth every dollar. Be prepared for it to ruin every other sushi place you eat at after.
