We had an amazing evening at Minka. The oysters were some of the best I’ve had and definitely my favorite of what we ordered, but everything was absolutely delicious! It’s byob, the atmosphere is cozy and elegant and the service was great. I highly recommend and will definitely be back 🙂

The food was amazing! Everything we ate was delicious. The only thing was that the food came out slow and there was only one person in the front, who was both the host and waiter. He seemed to be working diligently to cater to each table but it definitely was hard when he was the only one/food was coming out slow. I would go back for the food and nice staff.

I am glad I found this Japanese restaurant; you don’t need to visit NYC for quality izakaya-style Japanese food anymore(BYOB for now). I ordered a few small plates and two big plates. They were all excellent. The price for each dish is on the higher side, but you get fresh and quality food. The inside decor was minimal yet stylish, and the staff was friendly. This restaurant is an excellent addition to the area.

We had the BEST time stopping in for dinner! The best way to describe is fine dining ethics combined with simple shareable dishes. Servers are so knowledgeable, hospitable and committed to helping you enjoy a meal here as an experience. The chef clearly cares deeply about the ingredients, preparation, and presentation of the dishes.This place is all about homey and simple dishes executed extremely well and with creative finishes and we were so blown away by the quality. So so fantastic make sure you get a reservation in advance, if you get turned away from walk in it is because you underestimated the popularity of the restaurant. Some dishes are seasonal so we will be back!!!

I really enjoyed my experience at Minka – the ambiance is classy and low-key, it’d be a perfect spot for a date night or for small family gatherings. The restaurant itself is small to medium in size, there seemed to be only 1 waitress on staff with 1 chef in the kitchen. The waitress seated us very quickly and let us know the wait may be a little long as everyone arrived just before we did, and mentioned to us it’s BYOB and there is a liquor store very close by if we were in the mood for drinks.

Overall, this is an average asian fusion restaurant. This restaurant would be below average if one expects a traditional Japanese cooking style that focuses on highlighting the pure essence of the featured ingredient. For the purists, make sure you ask for very light salt and seasoning on the side. The best example I can give you is that in a simple salad, it is already over salted plus the chef uses salt as decoration on the periphery of the plate. Ingredients are fresh but over charged by about 200%. The silver lining is that this place is BYOB. Bring lots of beer to help you wash down the salt

Really great place, matches or even surpasses the top NYC izakayas. Varied and flavorful dishes, without the tolls, parking, and alcohol costs going into Manhattan. Will need to go back a few times just to try everything I wanted the first time.

Very tasty food, good service and friendly. They make you feel welcomed. Glad we found this little gem in jersey. We ordered a lot of things on the menu, the dishes that stood out the most were the uni shrimp, oysters, and steak. The taste were all well balanced all around. The pictures speak for it self.
