If you’re ever going through Jennings, you should try Mike’s seafood restaurant. I had the stuffed catfish and my wife had the gourmet burger. Both were amazing! The burger’s bun is a jalapeño sour dough bun with a hint of sweetness. Excellent choice. Also the onion rings and mushrooms come in huge portions as Appetizers.

After all the talk about this place being so great I was disappointed. Food was very good but not quite worthy of 5 Stars. Way too much batter on fried items; couldn’t really taste the food because of the batter.

I came into Jennings from over an hour away for a funeral. Six of us went to Mike’s. As a Cajun I hate when restaurants just deep fry everything and it’s sloppy can ring it out greasy. Mikes doesn’t do this! Everything fried to perfection! They are a great representation of how to cook seafood and Cajun culture. Everything….amazing! I got the crab platter, best soft shell crab I have eaten in a long time. Crab cake….amazing! All 6 of us got something different and from the frog legs to the steak…everything ca cest bon! Highly recommend this place! I have to find my way back to Jennings soon for Mike’s! And I don’t remember our servers name but he was as amazing as the food!

Food/service is hit or miss. Sometimes it’s pretty good. Other times it’s subpar. Tonight… subpar. Burnt food and fried fish that stinks like it’s gone bad. I was told the kitchen and owner said the fish looked fine. Bad fish doesn’t usually look bad to be bad. We are regulars at this restaurant. We have dealt with a lot of order mistakes and slow service. Not a big deal. Being told the food is good by someone that didn’t taste it doesn’t work for me. We had black hush puppies and a burnt corn dog with the grandson. Another plate with the same fish was fine.

We had the buffet when we went. All of the fried food was room temperature, on the colder side. The non-fried dishes were good, the inner heat of the pasta and rice dishes after moving them around helped. I’m not sure if they put new stuff out regularly or they wait until it’s almost gone to put new food out. It probably would have been better if the food was hot. It’ll probably be a little while before we go back again for the buffet. I remember before COVID, the buffet was amazing. It was subpar this past Friday. Sorry guys.
