Not gunna lie, I don’t know if I was extra hungry or what, but this place reallllly hit the spot! Everything was SO good! It did take a little time to get the food but it is well worth the wait. I recommend you pick a soup while you wait, they come with some of the chips to drop inside and you get an egg roll with some of the meals so they can bring that early. The service is also top-notch, you gotta check the place out!

Went in for lunch. Had dim sum. Damn was it good. And my server was amazing. Attentive and very sweet. Love the atmosphere. Cozy and carried a real vibe. My new favorite spot in Detroit.

I am from Philly out here for a conference and wanted some good Chinese food. Came across this gem and between the fast and efficient service and the food especially the sushi was to die for! You need to come here if you are in the area!

I haven’t eaten at Midtown Shangri-La in over 10 years. I remember never really being impressed by their food. But I see that they have a rating of 4.3, so I decided to give it another chance. I was pleasantly surprised by the main dish that I ordered, which was “braised fried tofu with black mushroom and vegetables.” This dish was super delicious, especially the sauce! It has such a nice, rich flavor. A richness that you don’t usually get with vegan/vegetarian foods. However, I was very disappointed by the scallion pancake. I can’t remember if I’ve ever had an authentic Chinese scallion pancake but I have lived in rural South Korea and I’ve eaten many types of “pancakes” there. I’ve seen scallion pancakes many times in cooking shows and they never look like this. The only difference between this scallion pancake and an elephant ear is the powdered sugar. There are only like 2-3 measly pieces of scallion per slice. It’s really just extremely oily fried dough with some green bits for decoration. I was turned off from the look and amount of oil. But I still gave it a try because maybe the look was deceiving and maybe it was actually packed with flavor. Nope, the way that it looks is the way that it tastes. It tastes like greasy fried dough with absolutely no flavor and certainly no scallion flavor. If I added powdered sugar, it would taste exactly like an elephant ear. I highly recommend taking this item off of the menu if this is how it’s always prepared.

The sushi is good. I loved the drinks they have to offer. My waiter was really nice and constantly kept tabs on me to make sure I was comfortable. The presentation was good. I love the atmosphere. Good place if you want to eat near campus.

This was nice and cozy. The sesame chicken, fried shrimp, crab Rangoon, sake were great! Fried rice with shrimp and traditional shrimp balls were just OK. Plus I had a hair in my soup but they rectified it and that was awesome. They get 4 stars because of the hiccup but they’re food is great and nice patio seating.

Great Chinese food. I’ve probably eaten lunch from here about once a month the last year.

Disappointing!! Ordered two slices of green tea cheesecake and the slices are tiny (two fit inside of one box) for $5.00 a slice that’s ridiculous, the beef in the beef and broccoli was very tough, and the spring roll that came with the combo plate was overcooked and burnt, the rice was also very subpar, sad because I read many positive reviews but will not be back.

Long wait time. Once my wife and I were seated. Just when we decided on what we wanted, the waitress came to take our order. Before we could fully finish our appetizers, the food was soon on the way right after. Very large portion size which we loved. My wife loved everything but I wasn’t too happy with the home made noodles and fact that I wasn’t given enough chicken but more vegetables than anything

I introduced my husband to this quaint spot a few yrs ago, he absolutely loves it. I’m not an expert on Asian cuisine but I partake in some things. The egg drop soup was excellent… crab ragoon couldve had a lil more crab in them but they were still pretty good. It’s always a good experience when I visit. The staff is friendly and attentive. Will definitely be back.
