Inspired by the recipes and spirit of former resident chef and renowned southern chef Edna Lewis, The Middleton Place Restaurant offers traditional Low Country favorites made from fresh, local, seasonal, and organic ingredients, harvested fresh from the on-site organic farm and gardens.
Lunch options include she-crab soup, shrimp and grits, collard greens, and Huguenot torte. (Lunch is available only to guests of Middleton Place.) A more formal dinner menu includes fresh-caught local seafood, organic chicken, select cuts of meat, and seasonal vegetables. The on-site organic farm provides a substantial amount of the produce served.
In addition to delicious food and drink, guests have a beautiful view of the Mill Pond and Azalea Hillside.

This place definitely has cozy vibes with a view! The windows overlook the pond and gardens and it’s a comfortable spot to have an intimate dinner. We have been in Charleston for a long time and had not heard of this restaurant until a friend gave us a gift card. What a gift! We arrived only 10 minutes before our reservation but I recommend arriving earlier so you can explore the grounds around the restaurant. Reservations are required, so make sure you make one before arriving. Entry to explore the grounds was included in the reservation. The menu is not extensive but has just enough options to make everyone happy.

People complaining about the prices , it was absolutley not expensive we paid 77$ for two + dessert. Absolutley a fair price for the quality of the food. I am not sure where those people eat normally.

Food was bland, not worth what they charge you for. Been to so many restaurants from low, mid to upscale—locally, out of state, and abroad—Middleton badly needs to up their game especially if they want to compete in the Charleston food scene. Waiter can’t tell us anything about a particular item in the menu when we asked him about it, didn’t know how to pour the wine so some of it spilled. I am unsure whether Middleton is trying to be a fancy restaurant or just casual but with how much they charge, you’d think it’s a fine dining place. The interiors feel and look cheap. The plates for breads were removed after we paid our bill LOL! So they’ve been sitting there the whole time we were dining, wondering when the waiter will take them away. I don’t mind if it’s not meant to be fancy, just bring down the prices of the food to match the vibe they’re going for. The music playing was also contemporary. I heard Backstreet Boys and then mid 2010s. Again, I won’t mind if it’s meant to be a casual restaurant. 90s music is my music so BSB is cool. How about some piano jazz? The black forest dessert came nothing close to the many Black Forest cake I’ve had in my life. Grocery cakes are even much better. Guess we paid a lot just to have a chance to walk around the plantation so for that, I can speak differently. The plantation was beautiful.

We had reservations. I dpnt have a lot of complaints, mostly disappointed that the place didn’t feel fancy enough for what you’re paying. I think I had too high of an expectation for this place. The experience is underwhelming and the furniture looks cheap. Food was decent but it is costly. We had Sangrias for drinks, scallops as appetizer, Steak and Chicken as Entrees, and the dark forest cake as dessert. The scallops were my favorite. The dessert was terrible and felt like a leftover from a week ago.

My wife and I decided to check out the Restaurant @ Middleton Place. I am very familiar with the property but had never dined here. I was thoroughly impressed with the beauty/view from the majority of tables that you could eat and the food was quite good. Nice little romantic getaway for the evening. Tables could have been a tad father apart but that’s just me being picky We will be back.

Stopped in for lunch. Had the farm salad, add shrimp which was delicious. Also, corn fritters and fried green tomatoes which were ok.

This place was absolutely amazing! The service was very friendly, the food was cooked perfectly, and for the overall price of the meal, it was competitive. The only thing I wish I would have known, is if you plan on going to brunch, you have to buy tickets inside the gardens to be able to go to the restaurant.

The service here is fantastic! I got the steak dinner and was super excited about it. Sadly it was overcooked. I typically order Medium Rare if they cook it right or Rare if I know the establishment tends to overcook it. It came out medium/medium well. Disappointing but the mashed potatoes were good and I loved the balsamic reduction. The pan seared scallops were very tasty! We loved the view of the garden but would probably not come back if we visit the Charleston area again.

Beautiful grounds. Our tour included bussing and a 3 course meal. I would skip the meal. It is not the same as their menu.

Highly recommended! Went here on a date night. Nice nature drive to get there. The restaurant is all windows, hardwood and brick. The views are so magical. Middleton Place restaurant is a small restaurant with a welcoming feel. The food is made there minus the ice cream. Ex:pasta noodles are homemade. I got the she crab soup, salad with veggies and house vinaigrette, fettuccine dish, market steak dish, pecan pie, cinnamon ice cream, bourbon ice cream and strawberry goat milk ice cream. I will have to go back and tour the grounds and bring sneakers. *don’t recommend wearing heels since it’s dirt walking in*
