This place is a short distance from my home, and of all the years I’ve been aware that it was nearby, I never actually visited it until now because I assumed it was a factory that made tortillas. How wrong I was to make this assumption. I stepped inside (out of curiosity) when I was on my way to 7-Eleven, and perhaps a little laziness when I happened to notice that what I wanted at 7-Eleven was also available at the Tortilla Factory.

Great and delicious food, and friendly service. The atmosphere of being in Mexico with groceries and dry goods for sale, and good selection of beer is cold in the refrigerated display! This all makes for a great dining and shopping experience! Highly recommend this neighborhood deli. It has been in the Newark community for years.

We were staying in Newark due to the the recent power outages in Northern California. This Mexican restaurant recommended to us by a friend. Really more of a deli/take-out place within a Mexican market. We placed a take-out order to bring back to our hotel apartment. The food was delicious and plentiful. The tamales and chili relleno, in particular, were excellent. They do close early, at 6 p.m., when the market closes.
