Launched in Old Town Scottsdale back in 2015, two close-knit brothers had a dream to make great-tasting and affordable Mexican street food. Stopped in for a very last minute / late night snack. After seeing a sign along 303, then passing by just before closing time, my family and I decided to stop in. Having worked in the food industry, I know stopping in minutes before closing can be frustrating for employees, and often lead to a bad experience, and even worse – bad quality. To my pleasant surprise, the two guys working the closing shift were nothing but accommodating, friendly, knowledgeable, and went out of their way to make our experience delicious and welcoming.

This place has enormous burritos! They’re so good, too! I watched the kid behind the counter struggle to close it up! I felt my money stretched here, which is something I haven’t said in a while with prices up everywhere else right now. I was able to eat twice from this one burrito and it was under $12 with everything added! Picture taken is after I ate half of it.

The food is good. I just do NOT understand why they offer online ordering for pickup if they will not start your order until you walk in to pick it up. It has happened multiple times at this location and the location in Tempe. If I place and pay for my order in advance to be ready at a specific time is for a reason. That is the only reason I am rating the a 3 star and unfortunately can’t keep going back unless I have time to wait for my order.

I’m so impressed every time I come to this place. The food is delicious. I’m not sure if it’s because they cool all their meat over real embers or what but it always impresses me. Their tacos and burritos are my favorite in the area. The breakfast burritos are incredible as well.

I really enjoyed my corn flour street taco. I got the steak with cheese, cabbage, & their red sauce. The red sauce has a kick but not burning my mouth hot. The staff was super friendly too. I would definitely come back for more. The other person I was with said her steak was a little dry & that’s why I am giving it a 4 star. Will update if I come back!

One of the best place for Mexican bowl with delicious steak which is marinated well enough to be flavorful but not kicking. The meat is still hot and juicy while served. Their staff are so generous in offering big portion of steak and other toppings. Always want to return here.

Mr. Mesquite is definitely the best place to get street style tacos in Surprise! They cook their meat over mesquite lump coal right in front of you, nothing fake about the flavor. All their ingredients are fresh and they build your food for you to your liking. The prices are definitely reasonable. My family and I got a family meal of steak tacos for $35 that was enough for 4 hungry people to eat to their hearts desire. At least than 10 dollars per person, that’s a steal! My 5 year old loved it so much that he said he wanted it everyday, and we literally just went back today so he could have more tacos! The dining area is also very clean and kept up, and all staff wears masks and are super friendly. No one making you feel like they don’t want to work there. I highly recommend this restaurant!
