About Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria
Considered the oldest family name in Chicago pizza, Lou Malnati’s is as rich in history as its pizza is in flavor.
Lou Malnati got his start in the 1940’s working in Chicago’s first deep dish pizzeria. He took his pizza expertise to Lincolnwood, a northern suburb of Chicago, where he and his wife Jean opened the first Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria on March 17, 1971. Lou was known for his fun-loving character as well as making Chicago’s best pizza. Loyal patrons lined the streets on opening day for a taste of his delicious deep dish creations. Lou always thought it was funny that an Italian should open a pizzeria in a Jewish neighborhood on an Irish holiday.

I’ve had Lou Malnati’s a handful of times of the years during trips to Illinois. My kids had received coupons for a free personal pizza so we went in to order theirs & get a pizza for myself & my husband. Deep dish takes 30 min, which is fine, just make sure you know ahead.

This was my first visit. I walked in and ordered a deep dish pizza, a mushroom and sausage. Was told it would take about 40 minutes. I walked back to my car to wait.

I ordered a deep dish pizza with sausage and cheese. It was disappointing!! I’m from Chicago and the pizza is much better there. The sauce had no species what so ever. Either this is fake Chicago pizza or just don’t call it Chicago style pizza. I give this company One year before it goes out of business. Maybe it was the person who made it but the pizza was really bad. Not what I expected from this company. If you like Chicago style pizza, don’t go here. Bad quality!!! Plus not worth the money $37.00

Honestly I’ve never felt the need to write a review before but this place while not bad by any means is definitely well over priced for what it is. It’s not all staff fault and they lady who took my order was very nice but the front area just seemed so void. The menu was a small print out taped to the counter that was very vague in its description and also had no pricing at all. I only got a personal sausage pizza which was probably 4 inches all around and it cost me 15 bucks. I wouldn’t be complaining if it was a pizza that blew my mind but it was honestly average at best. A bit in the greasy side and the cheese was pretty firm. It was still pretty tasty and I liked the sauce but definitely not worth the price of the time of 30 minutes to make. I would like to support a local place but as it stands price and wait time are way too high for the quality it is.

I have a bit of an obsession with Chicago Style Deep Dish Pizza. I’ve made it a personal mission to find the best in Phoenix. I’ve come up pretty disappointed, even with the direct-from-Chicago franchises. None really did it for me, until now. This pizza is pretty great. It’s not the best I’ve EVER had, but I’d probably give it an enthusiastic #2 (there’s a place down in Tucson that’s just killer).

This pizza was so disappointing. Ordered the deep dish butter crust, it was thick and rock hard. It was not the flakey buttery crust I am used to from Chicago. And for a deep dish, the ratio of toppings to crust was way off. Do not recommend

We got it for takeout, and I think that was a bad choice. The sauce was good, however it ended up getting soggy and wasn’t very enjoyable. I have to imagine eating it there fresh from the oven would be much better.

Take out only, parking is limited. Service was friendly. The pizza was good, but a pricy. Our large original deep dish pizza ($28), a small crustless pizza with one topping ($20) and a family sized Ceasar salad(which was awesome was $12). This isn’t Chicago or Arcadia if they want to stay, they need to adjust their prices for the area.
