Went with 3 guys on Friday night and got seated right away without waiting. We were lucky because the place filled out quickly afterwards. I’d strongly recommend trying both their raw and baked oysters. They are both fantastic. The raw oysters was fresh and delectable with the variety of sauces they provided. We had multiple lobster rolls (they were amazing). Total came out to be around $60 per person but we were fully satisfied.

Had spinach, artichoke, crab dip with a lobster roll! The bread is toasted and soft at the same time, doesn’t scrape your mouth. Truly and honestly, best artichoke dip I ever had. Lobster was cooked to perfection and served hot! Oysters are great, just get there early if you want certain flavors, because they might run out.

Truly fantastic oysters, lobster rolls, lobster melts, and beer of course! Great people. Awesome vibe. Huge fan of this place. Maine Dinner making a very special appearance was just ridiculous icing on the cake. Try your luck grabbing a seat at the lively bar when there’s a long wait.

Super awesome service from the bartender. The oysters and peel-n-eat shrimp were amazing. Nice atmosphere.

Great place to enjoy oysters. Staff is very knowledgeable and will point you in the right direction. Even if you don’t like oysters, the rest of the menu is great.

Excellent food, atmosphere and service! Best oyster place we have found. New England clam chowder was amazing. Fantastic experience and we will be back. Delicious! One side note, beautiful and clean washrooms! Always a bonus.

I want to believe the management did something after I left, but I’m not sure I want to come back. I was there towards the end of their day (3p on a Sunday) and a waitress took a vape hit right at the register, in full view of me and every other patron at the bar. She did it with her back turned to us and probably assumed no one saw, but I definitely did. It’s disgusting that a staff member is vaping inside the restaurant in plain view of customers. I politely informed my bartender who said she was the waitress’ manager and would address it with her… But honestly I don’t think I’ll be back. The management can’t help it if staff wants to disregard health codes, but it’s their responsibility to address it accordingly, and I really hope they do in this case.

My son and I ate here because I wanted oysters and he could get a burger. The restaurant was very nice and clean inside. They were busy but able to accommodate our walk in on a Friday evening. I ordered 2 dozen oysters for myself. I will say that I felt they were pricier than other times but the quality of the oysters was excellent especially with their house hot sauce. I would have preferred a description of the flavors if I could change the menu. Everything we ordered was very tasty and I will go back.

I stop by here and always have great experience. Great atmosphere, friendly service with excellent food and beer. They have tables outside where your fluffy friends will be welcomed.

Merchant Oyster Co. reminds me why we moved to Lawrenceville. There is just something about sitting out on the sidewalk, enjoying good food and drink, and watching the world turn on Butler that hits all the feels. In the last few months we have been several times and always enjoy it. The oysters are fresh and flown in from the Northeast and Canada. Staff is well versed in the different flavor notes if you play a high level oyster game. If the only the pre-pandemic happy hour oyster specials would come back! Sadly, oysters in Pittsburgh will always be a bit pricey (that pesky flying in thing).
