It looks like a grocery store from the outside but as soon as you walk in you step into the dining room of a restaurant that just so happens to have groceries. Most of them are dry goods but hey, they have cinnamon so big and fragrant, tamarindo pods as big as your hand, and all the dried hibiscus you’ll need. This is also known as flor de Jamaica which translates to “flower of Jamaica”. Just so you know. I don’t get my flower here I come here for the food. This day I had the pork chop special. Dang, that’s a lot of food for not so much money. The menu has a lot to offer and everything has been great. There are a lot of places that have a better atmosphere and maybe better this and that but the food was good and the beer was cold, and it was cheap. So if your looking for Mexican food this place is on Broadway and a safe bet. You’ll see locals here, including me and that tells you something.

Nice authentic Mexican restaurant off the beaten path in Galveston. I had a bowl of menudo, an adventurer’s specialty. I like my food tasty and spicy and they got it right. A cold Modelo Negra helped wash down the meal

We came here after a quick search for breakfast tacos. Who knew that we would find a gem that was by far better than any other restaurants we went to that weekend. The food was great and the prices were absolutely fair. It seemed like a working person’s kinda spot. They also had a grocery store in the restaurant. I think you could even bring your own catch in, and they will cook it, not 100% sure on that. I had the whole fried fish, best I can remember having as far as fried fish goes. Anyway, if you are in town for a weekend I would say this is a can’t miss spot but don’t tell anyone because you tell someone and then they tell someone and the next thing you know I can’t get a table next time i go.

Lady working the cashier was extremely friendly and helpful with me today. I’m the tattooed woman that has rbf and is socially awkward. She was so kind and helped me with the menu. The to go order was quick. Everything extremely fresh and you get lots of food at a good price. This exceeded my expectations. I had the #35 Chicken Enchilada. The hot sauce served on the side with it is amazing and flavorful as well.

Fresh off the Carnival Cruise and I wanted something delicious to eat. Saw this place and a pic of their menudo. This place did not let me down, the menudo was just how I imagined it.

Tamales elotes! If you don’t know, GO. This place is always so sweet. Skip the Tex-Mex and get straight Mex. Why have a watered down experience when you can get good food and grocery. I’m pretty sure their cilantro and lime are fresher than you’ll get at any grocery.

Simply the best carde asada plate in Galveston! My boyfriend & I always used to eat here when we worked in Galveston. We visited last weekend and had dinner here again and it didn’t disappoint at all! Yummy!!
