Stopped in for the first time today. The fried catfish was amazing, the sides were very good (we had mac’n cheese, steak fries, and collard greens) and the cornbread was really outstanding. My kids though the cornbread was the best part of the meal. Sweet and moist. Tough to beat! The place is great, location is good, aesthetic is nice. I really enjoyed it!

Visiting from out of state and googled bbq places. Glad we gave this place a try. The food was amazing! Ribs were so tender and fell off the bone. BBQ baked beans and Mac n cheese were also delicious. Nice atmosphere. Our waiter, Chris, was very efficient and personable. Gave us many suggestions! I wish we had a place like this near us! I would definitely return if in the area again!

This is the place for awesome comfort food. Omg pictures do not do this place justice. The food is hot the fish stayed hot while we were eating it. We had ribs chicken was fantastic ribs fell off the bone( oh my) I will never eat ribs anywhere else. We had catfish whiting it was amazing. Sides were from the collard greens to the Mac n cheese. Don’t forget the strawberry lemonade when u order delicious can’t wait to go back.

Great atmosphere, a lot of space for gatherings and soft events. I resevered a table before arrival, however they were not yet set up for reservations. The food was great, we didn’t care much for potato salad, this could just be a personal preference. Our waiter tried to assist with ordering on the menu, it seems that he was doing multiple things at one time, which took away from the customer experience. He offered to walk me around outside show me the back dining area. We will return again and try something new. Ribs were fall off the bone amazing!

We arrived hungry 30 minutes before closing time and was greeted with the friendliest smile from Jalyshia our server. We were visiting from Pennsylvania to attend a family member’s funeral. There were so many people at the repass that they ran out of food. I’m glad we found Melvin’s at Riverside! Everything I ate was good! The ribs were smoked to perfection! The fish was fried and fluffy on the inside! Everything was well seasoned. I’m glad we had the opportunity to eat at Melvin’s. The food made a happy ending to a not so good day. We also got a chance to meet the wonderful owners/chefs of the restaurant. Melvin’s at Riverside is a place you must visit while in Fayetteville, North Carolina!

I visited the place with two others craving some seafood in the area as it is close to the Atlantic Ocean. We saw some good rating for fish place in the area and menu looked good. We tried catfish, croaker, and chicken. They are all fried. I did not expect much, but all of them seem to have different batter for each fish. It tasted great! It brought out the flavour from each fish and chicken. The sides were quite surprising, too. Turnip was served and it was a reginal recipe as it is also served in other parts of Georgia. It tasted like a Korean soup called ‘siraegi deonjang guk’, soybean paste soup with dried raddish leaves. The only reason I give 4 stars is because the washroom ran out of soap and I had to wait for more than 20 min for someone to bring handsoap after my indulgence into the savory dish with all my 10 fingers. Fishy smell will need a good scrubing. Also, the croaker was not from the local source, but it was a Canadian fish! Would be better if all fish served here were locally sourceed. I could tell that the croaker was not fresh. Overall, it was a fine experience with extremely good service. The place will need bigger washrooms as well. Only one was available at the time of dining.

Went here for a late lunch early dinner on Saturday. The staff was friendly and helpful. Service was very good, fast and accurate. Chef even came out to check in us and see how we liked everything. The sides we got were very good along with my wife’s fried flounder. The fried chicken I got was just ok, a little dry.

The picture doesn’t do this food any justice !! This is some of the best fried fish I’ve ever had . I got the 2 filet fried flounder meal ! So crispy and flavorful !! The mac and cheese was packed with flavor , fries were good !! The house tartar sauce is to die for the server was great !! She delivered great service but was 1 out of 2 on the floor . Although the service was good , she could’ve used a little extra help to make everyone’s experience more smoother , for herself as well . All in all the food was amazing and I’ll be back !
