Mel’s Fish Shack is owned and operated by Mel’s own Daughter, Georgette Powell who took over from her father in 2001. With over 30 years of experience, you can find her in the kitchen frying fish or taking orders up front. This family owned business likes to make sure its customers are well taken care of.
Over the years, Mel’s distinguished itself from its competition, by expanding their grilled menu to include healthier options such as grilled salmon salad with its own signature ginger vinaigrette dressing and grilled fish wraps served with their delicious garlic dill sauce.

Very tasty all around menu! We ordered catfish combos some with shrimp and oysters. I liked how they asked us how firm we wanted the fish cooked. The greens and coleslaw were tasty. The potato salad was average.

My husband and I love to eat at Mel’s Fish Shack, as far as we are concerned, there is no Fish restaurant in town better than Mel’s Fish Shack. The fish is fried to perfection, I love his green salad and salad dressing, the greens are so tender and the hush puppies are to die for. We tried other fish markets, but no other can compare to Mel’s Fish Shack.

I am very displeased of the place as a food courier. I was waiting on an order the order was ready however the young man in the front who take the phone calls is very rude. I was there already I tell him may I have the order for this person, the phone rings he picks up show me index finger as a sign for me to wait, takes a $60 dollar order takes his time I am here watching him until I noticed I am there 10 mis already the order sitting in my face getting cold, I ask again and simply left.

I don’t know what’s up with the last review. But they are definitely opened! Anywho this was my first visit here, found them on google then I was able to place a pickup order through chownow and 20 minutes later I walked in and it was ready the gentlemen that assisted me at the pickup window was nice. I ordered the shrimp and cajun catfish with potato salad and fries with a peach cobbler for dessert. Wow everything was delicious! My fries were a tad bit chilly but other then that I was satisfied with how they cook and fried my fish and shrimp. The peach cobbler was a little small I wish they offered a small and large size but man it was like one of the best peach cobblers I’ve ever had. I will be returning !
