We originally went to the location on Banks Street, till the one on Claiborne opened. Closer to home is always a better option when it comes to picking up pizza. They are also on the Slice app, where you can earn points towards free pizza. I’m originally from NYC area, and MCP falls in my top 3 when it comes to pizza that closest resembles that which I grew up enjoying. We almost always order extra sauce on the pizza, as I feel the regular just needs a bit more. I like the size. Anything less than an 18″ pie isn’t a traditional pizza, to me. The dough is great. They don’t skimp on the toppings. Honestly, the only reason it’s not getting 5 stars is simply because no one that works there really knows how to cut a pizza. I’ve had dozens of pies from this joint and not a single pie has ever had 8 similarly sized slices. Is it worth a whole star? Probably not, especially since it’s now become a running joke when we open the box. So, either the same dude has been working there since before covid, or everyone subscribes to the Mr. Magoo school of pizza cutting. Either way, size not withstanding, the pizza is delicious.

I am a New Yorker living in NOLA for the past 5 years, and I can say with confidence that this is the best pizza that I have had in the city. Pizza delicious is a close second, but MCP uptown definitely has the edge, especially for its plain cheese pizza. I generally judge pizza based on its plain cheese slice, so I can’t speak for the exotic toppings that they may have, but for plain old Pizza MCP is the best.

I don’t actively love pizza. My wife loves pizza. While I am not a pizza person I will eat it. MCP is one of the only pizzas I will eat (I’m not kidding I will starve rather than eat most pizza). I don’t know what magic they put into it, but it’s good. While I will never love pizza, I have a hard crush on Mid City Pizza (Uptown).
