The history of McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood Restaurants began when Bill McCormick purchased Jake’s Famous Crawfish Restaurant located in Portland, Oregon, and brought the more than 100-year-old landmark back to life. When asked the secret of how he revitalized a restaurant on the brink of closing, McCormick says, I like nothing better than being a good host. Part of the managerial talent McCormick tapped was Doug Schmick, a management trainee. The two formed a partnership in 1974, creating Traditional Concepts, a precursor to today’s McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood Restaurants. In 1979, they opened the original McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood Restaurant in Portland, Oregon.

Place is nice, especially if u want to splurge on yourself and family or friends…took the wife there for our anniversary dinner. It did not disappoint! Shrimp wrapped in bacon and lobster bisque to start, Salmon and Ahi Tuna for the main course and finish it off with a pineapple brown butter cake. Yum! Oh, and the wife enjoyed it as well. 😉

My experience here was not great. It seemed that they were under staffed and the staff we encountered was underwhelming and/or inexperienced. We had a baby with us and was originally seated in a unaccomadating location, we needed a manager to approve relocating us. Once relocated, our server was polite but something was a bit off. I couldn’t tell if it was a language barrier issue or he just struggled to hear us. It took over 20 minutes after being relocated to receive our drinks and appetizers, which the manager, not the server realized. The requested medium steak was brought medium rare twice! They just never got it right. The suggested spinach was sad. By the end of the dinner I had requested the manager who made the best attempt possible to rectify the experience. She was personable, understanding, took about $40 off the bill and gave my partner and I free dessert. The butter cake was the best thing I had the whole night. I appreciate Makayla (I believe it was the managers name) accountability and solution-oriented drive. I think we just experienced this establishment on a bad day.

The food was marginal at best. Bland piece of fish, mash potatoes had a crust on them from sitting under the heat lamp. We had a party of 23 split up on 2 tables. We were there for 2.5 hours before our meals were served. Then, they had the gall to add 18% to the check. Nope, I didn’t give it to them. I would NEVER recommend anyone ever eat at this establishment. The fish at McDonald’s is better than this place. If 0 stars were available, that’s what I’d give. Oh, they knew we were coming with a large party. What a shame that they ruined our Easter brunch

Great restaurant for seafood.. especially in this area. We really enjoyed our meals…. So much so that I took a photo of the ‘warm’ basket of bread . The bacon wrapped shrimp was delicious . If you like Ahi, the dish you see posted is a great selection. The steak was juicy and looked amazing.

1st time here in National Harbor. We choose to come to this restaurant out of ALL the restaurants in National harbor to celebrate out 36th anniversary. When we made the reservation we advised ahead of time that we were celebrating. So we got dressed up and was ready for a wonderful evening.

Birthday Dinner! Elegant atmosphere and ambiance. I think the rainy weather made it all the more romantic. Water scenery, with lights, and ferris wheel view. Our server was very friendly and timed everything perfectly. Great variety of dishes to choose from as well. Highly recommend.

We were seated quickly….. But the visit went down hill from there. We were ignored for 10 minutes before we finally got asked if we were being served…. Told them no and they promised to get us water and a kid menu, and to make it up we were going to get bread!! (Wow!! Yes sarcastic wow)…. Another 10 minutes and finally we got water… Right when we were getting ready to walk away.
