MAYA was recommended to us by our photographer while stopping by Ocean Isle for pictures (our first visit to the island). Our first experience with upscale Mexican cuisine did not disappoint. We had a party of 6. We were immediately seated and taken care of attentively by Guadalupe. The staff communicated stealthily with ear pieces which allowed for a quiet, elevated atmosphere that complemented the stunning modern decor. Among us we tried 3 cocktails, 3 types of tacos, enchiladas Del Mar, queso, Caesar salad & rice. The food has a hearty, fresh, balanced taste. Our elderly grandparents were hesitant, but their requests to simplify the seasoning in dishes were met with willingness. We would 100% eat again.

We’ve been twice this week! Cute restaurant, great service and food. We can highly recommend- queso, Pollo Verde, Mahi tacos, enchiladas w/mole sauce, taquitos and Palomas to drink. Can’t wait to return!

Maya Restaurant in Ocean Isle Beach, NC is one of the best restaurants in the area. It is the best Mexican restaurant in the area. It is a high end Mexican restaurant. The food is authentic Mexican food. I felt like I was back in Merida! The owner and chef really gave this restaurant a considerable amount of thought. From the decor to the plating, everything is really put together nicely. The taste is the best Mexican food I’ve had in the United States. The prices are well worth it. The waiters are extremely attentive and look like they were plucked out of GQ magazine. They are very well groomed and dressed nicely. I can’t say enough nice things about this restaurant! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Amazing! Our only regret is that we waited so long to try it. It was so good the first night that we went back the very next night. A truly unique menu with plenty of options. The swordfish (dinner special) was cooked to perfection. The fig chili glazed salmon melted in your mouth, grilled marinated lamb chops with plantains and arroz verde exceeded expectation. The guacamole appetizer topped with ribeye and chicharone was without a doubt the best I’ve ever had and I have had authentic in Arizona, New Mexico and San Diego! Duck empenadas with tamarind sauce? Yes please! Our waitress Heydi was very personable and attentive. The entire staff is knowledgeable of the menu and ready to serve. Joaquin has really outdone himself and we can only wish him blessings of prosperity. We feel blessed to have him in Ocean Isle and look forward to many more wonderful memories!

First of all. I’m beyond happy to have some fresh tasting, delicious and creative food options now that this place has opened! The variety and creativity shown in the dishes presented on the menu are spectacular. And the TASTE? Knocked my SOCKS off. The service was great and attentive. I’m sad to say I do not recall his name but he took great care of us. The margarita was made exceptionally, the Calle tacos were diverse in flavor and mouth-watering (the salsa and chimichurri they were served with were good enough to drink). The desserts were a real show-stopper, also. We got one of each (churros and tres leches cake). Super reasonably priced, too, especially considering the quality of food being offered! All four of us shared an appetizer, had our own entrees (I also added a small soup and a house margarita for myself), and shared two desserts at the end and spent less than $200. That is a WIN if I’ve ever heard of one.

I know they don’t explicitly advertise vegetarian or vegan options, I was quite dissapointed to find they only had salad as the sole option. To make matters worse I asked the lady at the counter if they’d be willing to modify any of the existing dishes to accommodate my dietary restrictions, I was informed that this could not be done. Given their incredibly high pricing, I decided to find another place to dine.

Really good food and service. We are 2 snobby foodie Brooklynites on vacation and we mostly loved the food here.

There’s no other food like this from myrtle to beyond Ocean Isle. It’s a great, different twist to your tradition Mexican food. A beautiful, upscale environment with really tasty margaritas. I had the carne asada and it was extremely flavorful and even after I was stuffed from the amazing appetizers, I finished my plate. DEFINITELY CHECK THIS PLACE OUT!
