My husband wanted to visit May House because he frequented it a couple decades ago when he was a student at ISU. We were traveling through Ames and he wanted to stop. It did not disappoint and we are VERY happy we made the stop! We tried the shrimp fried rice, mustard pork and an authentic chicken dish and everything was incredible! They offer generous portions, have great prices, and excellent customer service. We will be back soon!

I ordered cashew chicken…..the sauce was on point BUT……this food looked like cashew chicken with American mixed vegetables in it….no baby corn, it had corn kernels, no pea pods, it had peas, no water chestnuts or ANY kind of chinese vegetables. Also, no sweet and sour with my ragoons.

The food was delicious and seemed very authentic. It is not a fancy dining experience. You order off a board at the counter. The prices were reasonable and the staff helped us pick out something. We will definitely return. This is probably the best Chinese food in Ames.

May House has been my go to Chinese restaurant for the past couple months. They have a variety of Chinese food that taste great and offer competitive prices for college students. Would highly recommend their Mustard Pork.
