this was my first time dining here and I couldn’t have made a better choice. I had the pulled pork brisket served like an open face sandwich along with fries and slaw, very tasty and tender.. I can’t wait to go back and try some other menu items. Staff is unbelievably courteous and welcoming, very nice!! Mavericks….a great place to grab some Que!!!

One of the Finest BBQ food places in Defiance Ohio! Every meal I’ve gotten here is spot in. Fresh ingredients, made to order, and an abundant per serving. These meals fill me up after a nice workout, or even when I’m craving some “fall of the bone” ribs! With a variety on the menu, I’m sure you can find an appealing meal here! We are not local, we were just passing through and looking for a BBQ place not too far off the highway. We found this barbecue place on Google maps and decided to try it since it was close to the exit. It is small and we almost missed it, so keep your eyes peeled. It was full with locals getting take out, which is always a good sign. We decided to get brisket. It was delicious, tender and flavorful. I got a side of macaroni and cheese, and it was the best macaroni and cheese that I have ever gotten at a barbecue place.

Not a bad little BBQ joint. Ribs could’ve been a little more tender but flavorful. Brisket tacos were pretty tasty as well. Seems customers come from miles away and I do mean MILES away to get food from here. They support locally so another upside.

If you haven’t eaten here, GO, RUN, and for heavens sake try the brisket grilled cheese. Hands down the BEST sandwich I’ve ever had in life, it’s hands down the best sandwich in town, or ANY town around for that matter. Everything was so delicious, fresh and quick! Don’t even get me started on that banana pudding, it literally almost brought me to tears. It was the closest I had tasted to my late grandfather’s famous banana pudding ever. So go, don’t hesitate, I promise y’all won’t regret it! The owners were so friendly and helpful we will DEFINITELY be back! Keep it up guys, y’all are exactly what defiance needed!

Working in the area my coworker and I decided to come here since the reviews were overwhelmingly positive. That’s for a good reason, I got the El Cue-Bano sandwich with an Elote Bowl and Mac and cheese… unbelievable, all 3! My coworker and I also split their special of the month (brisket tacos) and those were also incredible. Highly recommend

Another great lunch at Maverick Smokehouse! This time we tried the two-meat special. I got pulled pork/rib tips and my wife got 1/4 chicken/brisket. All were superb – juicy, seasoned well, and smokey. Plus, their BBQ sauce is awesome – just a tad bit of heat and lots of sweet! We will continue to come back. These guys love what they do and they do it well! A true gem for the Defiance community.

I’ve been begging my husband to try this place for months and finally got to try it today. I think the timing was perfect because the online ordering is set up and going full swing. Ordered for pickup ASAP and the food was hot and ready when I arrived. We ordered a El Cue-bano with mashed taters and elotes and a Brisket grilled cheese with seasoned fries and baked beans. There was one mistake – Ended up with a serving of mac and cheese by mistake but it was really good so I can’t really complain. If this happened to one of my gluten intolerant children then we’d have a problem. As for the flavors and textures of the sandwiches they were very good. Smokey, meaty, fatty goodness on crispy Texas Toast. The condiments were neither too much or too little. The only thing I would ask is that they make sure the sandwiches are cut all the way through. My husband and I were sharing our sandwiches and the cue-bano was difficult to split even though it had been “cut” before we got it. I don’t think we will ever get the baked beans again. They taste like canned Van De Kamps so really nothing special or uniquely barbecue-y about them. My husband suggested something along the lines of frijoles charros with bits of bacon or bits of burnt ends in them instead of a sweet bean which sounds really good to me (guess I’m partial since that’s what I make at home). Glad we got to try our Maverick Smokehouse finally and we will be going back again.
