Mmmm just enjoyed the BBQ Brisket Sammich, beans and Banana Pudding Cake SO SO GOOD! Always a welcoming space with owners who obviously care about the community and their customers. Their brisket is made from thin sliced smoked tofu and it is killer. Everything is always so good—nachos, Mac, breakfast… Definitely recommend!

Extraordinary!! Dinner was so good that the next day we went back for breakfast! The tofu brisket was amazing – I have never had anything like it (and I’ve been vegan for a decade). Mama Lisa’s collard greens are fantastic. And as for the breakfast biscuit.. best vegan baked good ever 🙂 We were just passing through town, visiting a friend. Yet we felt like regulars because we were greeted and treated with such a gracious welcome. All the folks who came by while we were enjoying our meal were treated with the same positive energy. I can’t wait to go back to KC and eat at Mattie’s again.

I’ve been vegan for 3.5 years, but this was my first time. And now I wonder what took me so long! We went for Sunday brunch, and everything we tried was life-changing! Black woman owned vegan restaurant tucked away in a quieter part of Kansas City. As an adventurous non vegan with a not so adventurous vegan partner, we were both pleasantly surprised by Matties. Friendly service, clean and artsy atmosphere, willing to educate on nonfamiliar items. Food was excellent. Would definitely recommend and definitely return when visiting Kansas City.

We were in from out of town for a family reunion. My family has a lot of varied dietary needs and Mattie’s was right there to help us out. The staff was helpful and made great recommendations for meals. I even picked up something extra to eat the following day and it was delicious! My daughter and I really enjoyed our choices.
