Fresh delicious BBQ. Great customer service. One of the best BBQ joints around.

The food was honestly so good! I took my family there because they were craving BBQ and this place definitely did not disappoint us at all! We got a half rack of baby back ribs and a southern plate, which has spare ribs and fried chicken. I definitely recommend this place. Plus when we went it was when they just opened in the morning so the food took a bit longer to come out, but in turn the meat was so fresh and yummy! One of the cook there felt bad for making us wait so long that he gave us a free banana pudding too 🙂

Yummy this was my first time visiting and it was amazing much better than expected. I ordered the half rack with mac and yams. The ribs were delicious not overly sauced cooked to perfection. The sides were good but the meat is really the star here. Oh and the koolaid slushie!! What so good!! Definitely recommend, I think they are going to need a bigger place for this wonderful food.

Friendly staff, had to wait a little bit but the food was well worth, had the fried chicken with mac and bbq beans. Good bbq shouldn’t come right out so one should know that their wait will not be in vain. Very clean and the murals kept my interest while I waited. Worth the wait and the short trip there. Will definitely be going back for that fried chicken!

Ribs were tender, greens and yams were good. Owner was very friendly restaurant was clean. Don’t miss grandma’s banana pudding or this bbq spot tucked behind the oak tree in the shopping center on Mack and Franklin. Stop in, you won’t be disappointed!

I was so excited to see this Slams BBQ open. I went in on the 3rd day. I like the decor. They have the best looking place in that shopping plaza.

Wow…. Not much I can say positive about my food experience at this restaurant. I ordered a big slam meal. Price was cool for a family meal however, the chicken was over cooked, there was an enormous amount of liquid smoke flavor borderline taste like lighter fluid. The greens were not fresh but frozen chopped greens. They were sweet and I promise I tasted pimento’s. The mac n cheese was bland and was seasoned with Italian seasoning. The yams….. Just bad all together. The pound cake itself taste like that recipe came from somebody’s grandma but the icing left me with much to be desired. Needless to say I won’t be going back. This is not an attack because I support my black brothas and sistas but we have to have a great product. Please use this as an opportunity to grow.

If you appreciate and value good ribs, then don’t go here. If you enjoy quality, authentic southern cooking then mash on the gas and keep on going. I ordered the half rack of spare ribs with Mac n cheese and greens. The ribs were as dry as the Sahara desert, could not be chewed, and obviously from a new species of miniature pigs because they were that small! The ribs were either left uncovered in the refrigerator or left too long in the oven. Either way it was a disaster. The greens were pre-packaged and laced in vinegar! What self respecting southerner would vinegar-ize their greens?? The Mac n cheese was tasteless. On top of that, the professionalism was lacking. The wait was long, they were unorganized and “ghetto”. The only good thing I could say is that they provided me with a refund promptly, with no fuss… Too promptly, as if they were accustomed to giving refunds.

Not authentic barbeque!!!! They do not season or marinate the meat well. They boiled my hot links instead of grilling them. They have found other shortcuts to bypass actually putting something on the grill. They do not make their own sauce. They buy the cheapest BBQ sauce from the Food 4 Less next door instead. The sides such as mac and cheese are cooked quickly and cheaply. Do not eat here! You will only leave unsatisfied eager to tell your friends how disappointed you were.

Need to recommend trying this food!! Everything I’ve had here is top notch. Favorites must be the smokey ribs, potato salad, and banana cream pie. The pie was ridiculously good. JR is a great person from the area making awesome food. Thanks JR!
