First time here with friends who knew this place was outstanding. We met for happy hour (4-6 daily). If you don’t try this place for happy hour, well, mores the pity for you. I started out with a 7.00 glass of house chardonnay which was robust and definitely not out of a box (most happy hour places are box happy) and 4 $2.00 oysters. The oysters were small in size but not in taste. Rich buttery and make sure you chew them to expose the full flavor. They are served with horseradish, cocktail sauces and a vinegarette. Absolutely delicious! Hubby had the half order of fish and chips which he said was excellent (nothing left for me to try!). bff and her hubby had the mussels and fries. HUGE portion of mussels and THE BEST FRIES I’ve ever had! I had a cup of clam chowder that was so delicious I felt like I was on the beach in Nantucket. Creamy with loads of clams, potatoes and yes! A little corn! The barker bakery bread loaf didn’t disappoint and I always love when our restaurants feature our favorite baked goods. I also had the fish taco which was a bit of crunchy heaven with red slaw. The sauce on the taco was spicy yet sweet but not overpowering each other. The bathrooms (I always check) were spotless and a fresh bouquet of flowers on the sink (so chic). Our server was fantastic! Engaging and quick without the hovering! Oh, it’s on for sure! I’ve already made plans to go back! You should too!

My visit to Mass St Fish House in Lawrence, KS, was a true delight. The ambiance was charming, and the service was impeccable. I started with the Smoked Salmon Cubano Sandwich – a flavorful fusion of tender smoked salmon, melted cheese, and zesty pickles. The combination of ingredients was a unique twist that worked perfectly. The Fish & Chips was a standout – crispy batter encasing flaky white fish served with golden fries. The accompanying tartar sauce added a tangy kick. The portions were generous, and the food was freshly prepared. It’s evident that quality is a priority here. If you’re looking for a seafood haven in Lawrence, this is the place to be!

Unbelievably Delicious!!! We had the Bang Bang Shrimp, Ahi Nachos, Smoked Trout and Crab cakes. Literally everything was top notch delicious!! We sat outside in a beautiful Saturday night and the lighting, music and service was perfection! I can’t recommend this place enough!

This is a hidden gem in Kansas. As many times I have gone to Lawrence just to eat, I do not know how I missed this place. We were greeted by “J” He was the best. The atmosphere was relaxing yet energizing. The Difficult Daughter with the lime was beyond good. It’ an excellent fall drink. And the tuna Nachos were off the chain. We also had firecracker shrimp which was equally good and these were just appetizers. We never mad it to the main meal. If you like bitter spirits, then Love Grows cocktail is nice. It shows that the GM pays attention to detail. There were real cut flowers on the tables and in the bathroom. Outdoor seating options are also available. The menu changes with the season I believe. I post a menu for you to see what they have currently. We will differently return!

We had dinner on the beautiful patio. Our waitress recommended the ahi tuna nachos to start our meal off and it was our favorite part of the meal. Wow! We ordered the fish and chips and the pan seared cod for dinner. The fish and chips was definitely the better order choice. It was flakey, flavor and had a nice crispy batter. We finished the meal with the flourless chocolate cake which was delicious. I can’t wait to go back and try more on the menu! Highly recommended this gem for a special night out.

Mass St. Fish House and Raw Bar is another real gem in downtown Lawrence. Just can’t really ask for much more. Oysters were fresh and delicious and the steak was one of the best I’ve had in a long time. Nice break from all the bar and grill type places we go to. Looking forward to going back!

Food was delicious! It’s worth the higher price, the quality is unbeatable. Surprisingly, the fries were the best I’ve had in Lawrence which I didn’t expect at all. I had the fish and chips as carry out and everything was hot and crispy when I got it home. The dipping sauce for the shrimp was great. No complaints here!
