The food was pretty good, I got the reuben and it was nothing special. However the falafels I decided to order after the fact were amazing. They have a nice little room to eat in which is decorated well. The owner (or what I assume to be the owner) had an arrogant attitude and didn’t have the best customer service as I witnessed myself and watched how he talked to some of the other customers.

The gyro platter was mostly delicious. It came with gyro meat, a side salad, pita bread, tzatziki sauce, and potato salad. The potato salad lacked flavor and the meat was quite oily. We also tried the Athenian chicken which was okay. The atmosphere is unique and is not necessarily indicitive of Greek cuisine. Plus, the interior is outdated and food is served on styrofoam. Employees were very friendly and honestly hoped we had enjoyed our meal. Overall, good food and friendly service.

Excelent flavor and taste!!! The made-in-the-house humus is really great, really homemade. My family had the gyro platter and I have the Marathon special, all really great. The dressing for the salads was on point and the pita bread were extra fresh. The facilities might need a little love but altogether the ambient is really nice. The service was also on point and really nice, making sure we had everything that we needed. A must go when visiting Greenville. The location is great while visiting downtown

Gyro platter was awful, and rice wasn’t thoroughly cooked. The worst gyro platter I ever had in my life!

Decided we wanted to try something different, again. We weren’t sure where to park at first, so we parked in the back lot behind the restaurant where you turn in on. You can also park street side. There is quite a bit of room inside and the walls have wood interiors. I wasn’t sure if I went into the right entrance door or not because it was a small width hall that has the bathrooms to your left as you walk in. The staff was friendly and we enjoyed our beefsteak. Oh, did I mention this is a Greek restaurant?

Genuinely the best restaurant in greenville. Been eating here for 10+ years and never had a bad meal. Need to try the steak and cheese sub and the kebab platters. The bad reviews are from people who arent rating the food itself, but are being nitpicky about superficial things. Absolutely must try this restaurant!

The parking lots should be the sign you need to keep driving. Place has gone downhill terribly. Hummus is super easy to make and they didnt even have that. BUT the staff had time to make some nasty looking fries for themselves and set up shop at the disgusting bar during service.

Marathon is a staple in Greenville NC. The food is authentic Greek with a few tasty options from other cultures. My only criticism is to ensure that the restaurant/restrooms are always clean and the cashier is in place to serve guests. The last time we went, my family waited for more than 10 minutes at the register before someone acknowledged us and took our order. It’s the small things that make a difference!

This was my first visit. Actually I have never heard of The Marathon Restaurant until a friend drove us there for lunch. It has a Greek themed layout. The tables and atmosphere were polished and relaxing. The staff, cashier were polite and friendly. The cashier knew I’ve never been there before and helped me order by giving me the quick rundown of what’s popular and the ingredients. That is how I ended up ordering the steak and cheese sub, and I must say it was absolutely delicious! I have ate other steak and cheese subs from places like Jersey Mike’s and Subway, and it was good. However, The Marathon was better! I love their fries, too! I cannot wait to go back and try more of their food.
