This past Friday evening, my husband and I were going to go out for seafood, but we decided to try Mandarin by Howard Wang on Arapaho Rd in Dallas (Hillcrest Village). What a treat!!!

The staff is so lovely! I really enjoyed meeting your host! He made an excellent recommendation 🙂 I got the Szechuan shrimp signature dish and it is delicious! Definitely going to return. Cute bar too! Thank you so much.

This a new place for an established restaurant group. The food I had was good. But not particularly remarkable. My sense is, that they are recently opened and working out the kinks in the kitchen. The hot sour soup was neither but was tasty nonetheless. My salt pepper prawns were batter fried though the menu said they were cooked in a wok. The prawns were a bit greasy and served quite hot. The seasoning leaned more into the salty. And the portion was smaller than expected for what was a pricy entree. They seem to be doing very good business. I will come back in a month and if relevant I will revisit this review.

If Eric isn’t at the bar next time I come I’m walking out!! He’s awesome. I like that the lunch comes with chips, dip, & soup. The egg drop soup was tasty. Loving the bar. Loving the service. Loving the weather.

The food was great tonight. For starters my boys had egg rolls and egg drop soup. The egg rolls were so crispy the boys ate the skins first!lol My wife had hot and sour soup. For our entrees the boys had beef & broccoli and lo mein noodles off the kids menu. We had Mongolian beef and the Singapore noodles. We asked for chili on the side to spice it up. Our plates were left empty. Definitely worth a return!

Had put off going to this neighborhood spot due to reviews. I am glad we went tonight. The atmosphere is very nice and everyone we encountered were friendly and professional. I ordered from the list of Thai dishes, Pad Kee Maw with Shrimp. The shrimp and flat noodles were big and beautiful as was the entire presentation. My mom’s Orange Chicken was well balanced on the sweetness, and the strips were finger size rather than throw away chunks one usually sees. Egg Flower soup was good, not great. Price’s certainly reasonable for portions.

Fabulous food and atmosphere. Granted it is opening week, it was busy and Valentine’s Day, but we didn’t mind the wait. We ordered wonton soup, pan seared dumplings and Chow Fun noodles with chicken. Everything was flavorful.

My wife and I were driving by and decided to stop and try the food. Big mistake. We simply could not eat what we were served as the meals just didn’t taste good. To their credit, the service was good but the restaurant was pretty much empty during dinner time. I can see why. If you’re looking for a pleasant dining experience, go elsewhere.

First time at Mandarin and it was just ok. The server was nice and the restaurant was clean but even to get to the restroom in the back of the place is odd, as in you have to squeeze between chairs to get by. Had the pan fried dumplings and those were really good, best thing we had. Also had Mongolian Beef and it was so disappointing. It was a huge amount of green onions with maybe 4 ounces of beef tossed in, as in that’s it, just a mound of green onions with very little beef. Probably not going to go back.
