Came here first thing when they opened for the day. Got the 1 meat fried chicken plate with greens and Mac and cheese. For $9.99, you get 3 pieces of chicken, 2 sides, a generous piece of cornbread and a drink! Well worth the money and more than enough to fill you up! The fried chicken was delicious and juicy. You could tell they just took it out the fryer and it stayed hot the entire time I ate the meal! The greens were very tasty with a nice spice. The Mac and cheese had a slightly weird flavor but not worth losing a star. I’ll just get a different side next time or double up on the delicious greens!

I’m going to take you step by step to understand just how amazing this experience was, from the kind friendly young man Terrell behind the counter, he not only was pleasant to speak to but went above and beyond in serving us. I myself had the catfish with collard greens and green beans and everything was PHENOMENAL. So good that I ended up picking at my wife’s macaroni and finishing her green beans hands down the absolute best green beans I’ve ever had! They are just genuinely good people, even the kitchen staff came to see that we were content and I’m very pleased to say my wife and I are over the moon i’m currently salivating typing this review!!!!! I can not wait to go back!

This was our 1st and last time we ordered 3 2meat plates. The 1st plate was fish and pork chop, greens and sweet potatoes.( They forgot the pork chop). The 2nd plate 2 legs, mash potatoes and sweet potatoes. The 3rd plate was wing and thigh, sweet potatoes and supposed to be green beans ( they gave something that looked like macaroni that had a SOUR SMELL or some kind of odar to it !). The so call sweet potatoes was full of grease looks like 2 cups of grease. This food is terrible. The mash potatoes are instant..They could have brought the real instant potatoes would have tasted a lot better! We paid over $50 for this slop ! The grape Kool aid was sugar water !!! How are y’all still in business the way this food taste! We are from the East coast where the soul food is delicious! Y’all need to cook ur food way better than this ! You need to start giving people their money back ! The chicken was salty and awful. We will not be returning ! Your restaurant on a Friday should be packed. There was only 2 cars in drive thru. Terrible Terrible Terrible. I hope we don’t get sick off this nasty food. Who ever cooked this food need to ask God to bless ur hands so ur food will taste edible!!!

I actually really regret having to leave this review because we’ve eaten here a dozen times and the food has always been outstanding. I tried to call the restaurant and talk to them directly but it goes to a voicemail box that doesn’t work… Today I was there and waited 30 minutes for a 12 piece chicken. The chicken was super hot and fresh when I got home, however it tastes like catfish. Really disappointing because we love this fried chicken so much and this order is horrible. Super salty and tastes overwhelmingly like fish. I don’t know what changed. Maybe they have waited too long to change the fryer oil or maybe they used to use separate dryers for chicken vs fish… All I know is this doesn’t meet the standards we’ve come to expect from Mama Lou’s. I’m super disappointed

Omg, I have been trying to find my favorite place to get some good catfish, and I just found it here! The fish was meaty and tasty. We also ordered some banana pudding and peach cobbler……..to die for. I’m stuffed but can’t wait to eat her again!

After living in Georgia and eating real Southern dishes…Finally tried Mama Lou’s and it was really delicious. The greens were seasoned perfectly, the candy yams sweet and fresh… the lightly breaded catfish was fresh and delicious. Everything was served hot not lukewarm which I so appreciate. I will go back again to try some other dishes and sides.

Visited for the first time and will never return. The sweet potatoes were burnt, fried okra was cold and hard, and the corn bread was sweeter than cake. The fish was one big piece and the only thing good but once I got to the middle it was undone!! Definitely not the soul food I grew up on!

I’m from Atlanta GA and just recently got stationed in San Antonio. I’m happy to find soul food that I’m used to. The sweet yams, fried chicken and collards was bomb. Best soul food in San Antonio. Plus they do militarily discount.

So disappointed. I’m so use to Louisiana food I went here thinking I would get the same thing or something close. Not even. Not only was the food nasty, decent customer service is unheard of I’m guessing. They barely had anything I asked for. They supposedly close at 8pm, I got there at 6pm but stated “they had no chicken breast fried!” Not to mention, they’re expensive.

I went there and the staff is so rude. I showed up there 740pm and it says they close at 8. The guy came out and said they are closed and I stated it says you close at 8. He stated whatever we are close now don’t know what to tell you. So I came back the next day and tried to order my food. The lady said hold on. I wanted for 5 minutes and then she started taking my order but kept rushing and was rude over the speaker. Just kept rushing. There are so many other places to eat and they want to be rude to their customers
