Date night with the Wife, and a new restaurant was called for. Enter Maki…a smallish establishment with BIG taste! Make no mistake, this is a DREAM to eat at. The menus are the perfect size for the space they’re in, and they make proper use. We got 2 Bento boxes, 1 with Salmon, 1 with Teriyaki, and each came with a California roll, side salad, rice, pot stickers/shrimp, soup, and soy beans…a FULL MEAL. We also ordered a Spicy Tuna roll, the Poké Tuna, and the fried cream cheese appetizers. You want REAL, Authentic tasting food… with outstanding service AND an attentive staff? Right here!! Fresh crisp vegetables, flavorful meats, and all cooked/ made to perfection. This could literally give Japanese Blossom a run for its money at 1/2 their price. Plenty to take home for leftovers as well. Usually a date night involves talking, but this time it was all about the meal and present company. We thoroughly love this place, and you will too.

The service was fast and the people there was friendly. The overall experience was great including the food as well. They have a sushi bar ,and the presentation wise was beautiful. A good place for a date.

We ordered the beef pho, combination pho, shrimp & pork spring rolls and edamame. The broth on the pho was really good and the spring rolls were delicious. The edamame was just ok. We also got the coconut tea with boba which was great. We waited for our check a little too long and finally had to ask. We’ll be back again to try their sushi.

We ordered a a couple of dishes and drinks. Everything was fantastic! The tako kimchi was probably my favorite amongst a all around good meal!

Really delicious. The shrimp tempura soup made the tempura a bit soggy. The fruit lemonade was on another level. Very expensive.

Great addition to the North Side of Chico.

My wife and I loved the sushi. We appreciated that they were more about the fish than smothering it in sauces like other places. We equally enjoyed the Vietnamese food that we got the next day.

Tried this place yesterday. I was one of three tables seated for dinner. The server was having a hard time keeping up, and it seemed like the food would come out of the kitchen slowly, one dish at a time. I ordered the dinner bento box with teriyaki chicken. The chicken seemed microwaved, it was tough and looked like it does when you microwave a frozen piece of chicken. Definitely didn’t seem fresh off any grill or stove top. When ordering I asked to switch out the California roll for something else because artificial crab isn’t good. They said only more fried gyoza or fried tempura to replace the California roll, so not wanting more fried food in my meal, I just said ok thanks. I did try the rice on the California roll expecting actual sushi rice since someone commented about their sushi rice being authentic, its not.. unfortunately it’s just rice, no mirin or flavor. The miso soup was a little too salty. One delicious item was the tentsuyu the tempura dipping sauce, it’s probably the best I’ve had. Good tempura too. It is somewhat clean, and the owners seem very nice, I think if they focus a little more on food quality and get more help on the floor and in the kitchen, this could be a pretty good spot. I will be returning soon to try the sushi.
