This pastry shop is indeed pricier than their peers. However, they have something unique to offer. The pate is one of a kind. I got the duck one and it is packed with high quality ingredients. The pastry shell around it is also crusty and delicious. The coffee here is also smooth. The open kitchen is cool for us to see how delicate the chefs are. I would love to try something else next time too.

Great aesthetics, especially in pastries. The croissant was quite mild in flavors and texture. Lower perceived butter and salt lends to tasting the pure croissant component. Not too flaky as to crumble and leave a mess. This perfect croissant should appeal to all.

The pastries look amazing, there’s such a great and different variety. I got the baguette to take for lunch to dip in my soup I brought from home and very fresh, very inexpensive $2.50. I also bought an almond guava croissant and it was super flaky, with the guava being just right and not too sweet while being very flavorful. Would definitely come back to try some other items

I was delighted to enjoy my breakfast outside on their cute pink tables, now that SF is finally warming up. They’ve got a bunch of different pate options, but my personal favorite is the duck one with pistachio. It has a perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors, and the pastry surrounding is so crispy.

The pastry at this place is amazing. I went with two French friends, and they both approved. We got a chocolate croissant, a Parisian flan, a duck pâté, and a croque monsieur and loved all. Just keep in mind that this place is on the pricier side. We paid $50 for these 4 items, but then again this is San Francisco. Can’t compare with Paris prices.

I never bought anything from SF pastries, tried and had to throw it away. But this is how this place was.

I saw that they won a croissant competition so I gave it a try. The croissants did not disappoint. It totally deserves the award. I also had a duck and hazelnut pâté en croûte. It was so so good, I didn’t even need to eat it with any other side dish. I should have asked for a thicker slide.

what an amazing viennoiserie! we were the first in line at 8:45 because i was meeting my croissant dealer lol by 9am there were already 20 people behind us. glad we got first pick of everything! who eats duck pithivier for breakfast?! we did and it was outstanding! really wish we got the whole piece. tried some of their pâté and rillette and at this point i just wanted to cancel our 2nd breakfast because i’m still eyeing the fromage de tete and a thicker slice of the foie gras mousse. i’ll be back maison nico!
