Best Italian food we’ve had in the area! The owners and service provided were both great! My family arrived later in the evening after an event and they were very kind unlike other places that try to rush you out the door. Food was fresh and phenomenal. Their wine selection was a plus.

Found this great family owned restaurant on our recent vacation. Food was excellent (home made), great service from the sons of the owner. Definitely going back on our next trip. Don’t miss stopping at this restaurant. You won’t be disappointed!!

My husband and I went last night with friends. Three of us had the seafood on pasta and it was delicious with clams, mussels, calamari, shrimp. I can’t remember all that was in it but last night they included a surprise addition for us little squid. The dish was not fishy tasting but had a very good seafood taste. My husband had the special which was lamb chops and he loved it. He also had a Caesar salad. He said it was the best Caesar salad he’s had yet in Sarasota. The dipping sauce for the bread was so good we asked for another helping of bread be brought to the table. The restaurant had a traditional ambiance with tile flooring, white tablecloths, and quiet background music. It is in a small strip plaza on Tamiami but when you walk in you are transported to Italy. A family from Sicily owns the restaurant and the mother cooks and the sons wait tables. The waiter we had was very good he cleared the dirty plates as we were done with them, remembered who ordered what, refilled our wine glasses and, put our leftovers in the to go containers. At some upscale restaurants we have been to they don’t clear the dirty plates as you eat and have you put your own leftovers in the to go containers. I recommend going on a weekday evening as the restaurant is less busy, especially off season when the population decreases. Go. You will love it.

This restaurant is amazing. A nice small place (I love a small place) but the tables are not on top of each other so you still can have a conversation and the table next to you can’t hear.

What a great find! Been looking forward to dining at Maestrale and the food and hospitality did not disappoint! Delicious seafood risotto and orecchiette with sausage and rabe served in a cozy Italian atmosphere. Kudos to this family establishment. We’ll be back.

Our first visit to Maestrale and it will NOT be our last. The first big plus was that one of our party asked if they would substitute veal instead for chicken saltimbocca. Since there were not many people at that time they made the swap. By the time we left the dining room was packed and everyone appeared to be enjoying their meals. I had veal Marsala and it was very good. My wife had the Chicken Carciofi and it was even better. The service was great. It was a little loud but everyone was having a good time. Definitely worth a visit.

If you’re willing to pay an extra 4% for using your credit card in addition to just average Itilian food, it’s just OK. Any restaurant that charges for using a credit card is crossed off the list. Talked to many that were there once and won’t go back because of the 4%.
