The food was good… when it eventually arrived. There is something wrong here, and I don’t think it’s the staff. Maybe its the lack thereof. Devils playoff game day, this place wasn’t packed or even very busy, while thousands of people were outside. 45 mins for our fried food to come out, long waits for first and second rounds of draft beers. Management needs to resolve this either with more staff or figuring out if the issue is something else, or this place won’t last. I miss Dinosaur BBQ…

I had the chicken on a lunch special and the quesadilla. The food was just okay. I wouldn’t mind getting the wings again but the professionalism there just was not it . The wings is definitely fried and battered differently and that’s what I think makes this place “unique”. The menu is also very limited.

Disappointed! It took forever for our food to come out and we were only two of five patrons in there at 3:30pm on a Sunday. It appears there was some kind of kitchen meeting that slowed up the process of preparing food…We had the half and half tenders (pictured). They taste like they were cooked then reheated in the microwave. They reminded me of kettle cooked potato chips. When the other food finally came out, the fries (not pictured) were barely warm and the chicken sandwich (not pictured) was nothing but breading. The crispy chicken bowl (pictured) came out even later. They initially gave me the beef bulgogi bowl-which belonged to someone else-who ordered AFTER we did. When I finally got the right bowl, it was basically a bowl of rice with a bit of guacamole, pico, corn, crispy chicken pieces and about two tablespoons of “glass noodles”. The Moscow mule had way too much lime juice. You couldn’t even taste the ginger beer. I won’t even bother go into what happened when the “manager” was called over. This was a first and last for me.

This is the second time I’ve been to this restaurant and what a difference from when it first opened! The staff were super attentive and were on top of everything without crowding us.

I know this place has only been open less than a year but they are amazing. The two female managers are funny and awesome. The atmosphere is comfortable and friendly. Food is definitely worth the 15-20 min n wait. I was skeptical at first because of some of the reviews but honestly this place is great. Will definitely be my new place to hang out after work.

On 6/24/23 I came to this Mad for Chicken for the first time with friends to get some drinks before we went to the comedy show at Prudential Center across the street. I was inside Mad for Chicken for 40 minutes from 6:30-7:10 and NEVER got a drink. A waitress never came and I went up to the bar 3x to ask for help and the girl with the glasses ignored me twice and the other one just blew me off. All 3 girls behind the bar were rude and just the most miserable bartenders I ever met. After 40 minutes we walked out and never got a drink, never got served. The place wasn’t even that busy and I witnessed other customers exhibiting frustration from the poor service. One guy started throwing a tantrum at the door because no one would seat him and his group. By far the WORST service I ever experienced. Downtown Newark has plenty of places to grab a drink and food. This particular Mad for Chicken is a disaster of a place. Believe me people. AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE.

Came here on a quiet Saturday afternoon. Food is delicious and they make surprisingly good cocktails for a fried chicken joint. I recommend the dumplings

I look for consistency in a food establishment. Well baby Mad got it right. Chicken was crispy well seasoned like my first experience. Drinks are very good although I not a drinker. , worth the price. Staff was fun! Who knew!

If I could give this restaurant zero stars, I would. This is by far the worst dining experience that I have ever had in life. The service is deplorable and they need to be shut down immediately. I went there for lunch with my partner and we ordered the lunch special. She ordered the 5 wings and fries and I ordered the 5 tenders and fries (both were soy garlic). The chicken tenders didn’t have much sauce but it was fine. They were decent with the ranch dressing and the fries were fresh. We sat at the bar and the bartender was extremely rude to the patrons and her colleagues. She used profanity as she hung up on people calling to place orders. Then she said that she hated working there and she hated everyone else who worked there. Last but not least, she said she wanted to kill herself after her cigarette was moved from the bar. I could not believe that an establishment would have someone like this working there and allow her to speak that way in front of customers. I forgot to mention that she yelled how much she hated black people, which was odd since she was black herself. When we left we called to speak to a manager. Immediately we knew it was this very same bartender that answered the phone and immediately she said NO YOU MAY NOT then proceeds to hang up before I could respond.
